Man Utd are sniffing around just like they did with Carrick and Berbasulk. So will he be a Utd player in January or the summer? I don’t think ‘Arry could have made it any clearer that he wasn’t for sale, but that doesn’t seem to matter to them.

LOL. They would have to pay big cash upfront. No way would we give them any sort of credit.

I've read today about them apparently promising Rooney they'll give bacon-face £60m to spend, but unless the Glazers are planning on harvesting their organs that cash is gonna have to come from player sales. And there's no way we'll be interested in player-plus cash deals like Carrick + Park + 1/3 of the actual asking price, so meh.

Not worried about Bale going to United, but think they may force others like City and Real Madrid into the market, much like Newcastle did with Rooney a few years ago. If Real make serious advances it'll be almost impossible to hold onto him (unless VdV tells Bale, "the folk at Real Madrid eat welsh people and they never play you. Oh and Jose wants to wear you mum like a hat and pass her around the players on match-day as some sort of clean-sheet bonus". That might persuade Bale to stay another year or two).

Got this off football tavern....

Interesting times at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex is branded a master tactician as he essentially gives young Wazza whatever he asks for. In return he gets a signature written in sand and an option to refer to him as ‘the boy’ on the telly. Masterful stuff, indeed.

So what else did Sir Alex promise the pasty faced ponce?

1. There IS a transfer budget. Ferguson’s ambitions were stalled in the last window, but this was combined with certain players just simply not being available. Another element in the equation is that Fergie will not want to do anything to jeopardize his pension from the Glasers.

The figure Wazz was quoted for players was, ‘more than the Ronaldo money’.

2. Jordan Henderson is a done deal, however Karim Benzema is THE number one target and the plan is no more sophisticated than that employed on Wazz. Hurl lots and lots of money at, ‘the boy’.

3. We’ll bury you in money and forget all about that cr*p you spouted as your agent operated you like a ventriloquist’s dummy.

What exactly are they going to pay us with?

Berbatov was a very good Premier League striker aged 27/28 when they paid £30.75m for him. Bale is one of, if not, the best player in the world in his position at the age of just 21 with every club in the World drooling over him.

He could have gone to Utd when he signed for us, if he chose us then when we were selling them our players and they were on for the title why would he want to go there now when we are a CL club like them?
We won't sell and no amount of money is enough because whatever it is it will be more three years down the line so false economy.

It seems the sterling is depreciating rapidly and in fact by 50% in just one day.
Yesterday the papers said that Red Nose has been given a 50 million pound transfer kitty, and today it has gone up to 100 million.

Where is the money going to come from? Yes they are supposed to have £160m in the bank but if they make another loss that will leave them with £80m. At the moment they are not guaranteed CL, if they lose that they will lose a huge amount of money. They also have to face the prospect of replacing Scholes, Giggs, VD Saar and Owen will they spend £40-50m on Bale when they have these other positions to cover.

Look at newsnow. A lot of Bale to United stories. Newsnow was the same when Carrick and Berbasulk were being followed by Utd.

No, there's a lot of stories saying Utd want Bale.

Just like we want Lionel Messi.

Neither will happen in the next twelve months.

What has begun? What have I missed?

Nothing new. Just the children shitting themselves at our world class players drawing attention to themselves.

Gonna have to get used to it folks - in case you haven't noticed we've been upwardly mobile for a while now.

What has begun? What have I missed?

My thoughts as well.

Newsnow had players reportedly coming to us etc. for almost all of the summer transfer window, players other than the few we signed, so that means very little.

I will also be very surprised if Bale isn't with us at the start of next season.

Nothing will surprise me in football. There was an interest previously from UTD when both clubs went in for Bale...with Ryan Giggs careers coming to an end UTD might see Bale as a successor and they have a recent history of nicking our player and us selling to them. Footballer have no loyalty anymore ask Rooney and Robbie Keane about that so the question is for the club to continue progressing.

Michael Carrick came to us as a better option than relegated West Ham that's all but when he got the chance to go to United he took it and we didn't hold out to keep him, Berbatov's ambition was to go there all the time and he worked his move, Bale could already be there had he wanted to be, they asked him and Ryan Giggs lobbied hard but he chose us so clearly his ambition ain't to get to United that puts a whole different complexion on things.
Personally I only see him in a Real Madrid shirt if not Spurs but he ain't going nowhere for a long time.

I fucking hate Utd. I hope Rooney walks next summer. Watching tears well in Fergie's eyes as he rubbed his tender botty was just what the doctor ordered. I'll have some more of that.

Bale has responded quite curtly on at east 1 occasion regarding his future and has repeated his desire to stay at spurs on a number of other occasions. He said words to the effect that " He is very happy at spurs. There is no other club in England he wants to play for. There is no other cub in Europe he wants to play for. Everything he needs to be successful is at spurs. He is staying at spurs".

I know that this can mean very little, and may prove to mean very little, but he didn't go on about being flattered, or football being a strange world where anything can happen etc, he just clearly stated his intention to stay.

He will be a spurs player for at another 2 seasons as will all of our current squad members that Harry wants to keep. We are building an excellent team and we will only improve over the next year or 2.
