Jose Mourinho will get the first opportunity to buy should Spurs look to cash in on the 23-year-old, who only signed a new deal in June

Real Madrid have secured first option to buy Gareth Bale.
Bale signed a new four-year contract with Tottenham in June – but he has been the subject of constant transfer speculation during the last three years.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United have all been linked with the 23-year-old who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s outstanding talents. In the wake of Luka Modric’s transfer to Real last week, the clubs announced that they had formed a new alliance.
In a statement, it was revealed this will involve “players, coaches, best practices and commercial relationships”.
It is also thought that Jose Mourinho’s Real will now get the first chance to sign Bale should either Tottenham decide to cash in on their valuable asset or if the player asks to leave.

The asking price for Bale will be around £45million but Spurs would have the chance to choose from Real’s talented squad in any deal.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have confirmed that winger Aaron Lennon has signed a new contract, which commits him to the club until 2016.
The 25-year-old has played more than 230 matches in all competitions for Spurs since joining from hometown club Leeds in 2005.
He has started both Barclays Premier League matches for Andre Villas-Boas’ side this season. Lennon, who netted four times for Tottenham in all competitions, was part of England’s World Cup squad two years ago.
However, he did not figure in this summer’s European Championships.
There had been rumours in recent weeks that Lennon may be surplus to AVB’s requirements, but the new deal silences those claims.

What bull. Next they're going to be saying his head has been turned and he's not pulling in the same direction and there's absolutely no evidence for this.

:eek::oops:

TBF it's obvious Bale will leave us one day and probably end up somewhere like this. Who could blame him. After his experience in the CL he is going to want to do that every year. If we fail to provide him that for the 3rd year in a row and the biggest club in the world come knocking then you go, no matter who you are. I would be as devastated as anyone the day it happens but it will happen. Just hope he goes quietly and doesn't do a modric!!

The very least they can do is link him to a team that needs or has space for him.

The asking price might be 45 million but Real won't pay that, that's for sure.

You know what - if we were offered 45m id fuckin take that however I have one issue with that - I dont trust Levy to reinvest that money back into the team on PLAYERS THAT AVB WANTS. Thats the crux.

Bales off anyway, im resigned to that, he's too good not be in the Champs league... What's going to piss me off is not looking for a replacement NOW rather than some time in flippin August 2013.

All I ask is we learn from our mistakes, I struggle to see how we're doing that if the transfer strategy is not changed.

Well after this "partnership" deal, did you guys expect any less from the rags?? This deal is going to be more beneficial to the rags than either us or Madrid! :D

Similar trip mate. Just annoying it was to watch that match! Guess we have to have faith that the team will 'gel' soon...So frustrated is all.

And come on, everyone said as soon as this partnership was announced it meant first dibs on Bale for RM..

45 million is massively inflated for Bale, it really is. Nowhere near consistent enough to be mentioned in the world class bracket, and doesn't work hard enough for the team when things arn't going are way either.

That being said, he's capable of absolute brillance at times - and some of the stuff he's done/can do is jaw dropping.

Long way to go in terms of consistency before I'll be losing any sleep over it though.

£45m is great money for him but we would only end up using a fraction of it to buy Downing as his replacement so I would rather we kept him!
