Very true. Not been the same since. He's still got the jets but no after-burners anymore. Used to leave them dead. Also lacked confidence for a long time now. His foo foo used to get all tingly at the site of a lone FB.

But yeah I do think he needs to raise his game and if we sign Lamela, he'll have to otherwise he'll be benched or off. Maybe the competition if we do sign Lamela or whoever is just what he needs, he hasn't really had any for years.... apart from Bentley....

Yep. I hope he'd be prepared for that at this stage of his career. The guy's been a regular starter since he was 18. Would be a big change.

If he did that, he may have had other clubs sniffing around him - I thought he looked supreme before his injury last season. Still love watching his goal vs The Scum last season, the way he ghosted across their back line. He also tracks back brilliantly and harries the opposition.

My only two criticisms of him are his end product and his eyebrows.
