Bale on the difference between Redknapp and AVB

I think Harry's approach was to assemble a team of players who would naturally gel together, and not burden the players with too much in the way of instructions. which when it works can be dazzling, and on occasions was; but in terms of results AVB is doing as well with arguably a weaker squad. Different approaches but both have done well for us.
Harry's approach was to use experienced players as much as possible as they need less coaching and add a couple of class players like Modric and Bale to provide an engine

Harry liking experienced players is overstated; he wanted some leaders in the team, but he was also happy to hang his hat on the inexperienced youngster Walker in preference to the very able and experienced Corluka, because it gave the team a dynamic he preferred. Just as he is now relying on Townsend to dig QPR out of the hole they are in. Six months after he left he is still doing promote Spurs youth policy than is AVB!

He will have a striker of his choice in the summer, that's why we didn't waste money and wages in January. Convinced DL will back him in the summer.
This.

I think Levy will go far to get AVB his striker this summer and if we dont lose any first team players I dont see us brining in anybody else (except maybe younger players for the future)

I know alot of you think we need wing cover but I honestly think 1 "star" striker would take us one step closer to the Manchester clubs. I much rather have 1 20+ mill striker then 10mill striker and 10 mill backup winger.

To be fair to Harry, he never shyed away from not being tactical and often said if you have good players then there are plenty of managers out there that could lead the team to success.

Really? One of the first things vdV said to the press when he came to us was that he preferred training because there were no tactics chalk boards involved.

That's almost certainly to do with the different stages of their career and footballing upbringing. VDV was raised at Ajax where he would have been pummeled with technical training first from the early teens and then hammered with tactics as he broke into the first team, then he went through Germany and Jose at Real. By the time he got to us he didn't want or need tactical knowledge he juts wanted to chill out and do his own thing. GB is still young, ambitious and developing, he has clearly been craving that tactical knowledge and is obviously benefitting from it, probably more than any of our other players.

Harry had tactics that suited thick footballers, eg run about and kick the ball, (in his day if you were too stupid to get a 'proper' job, you played football. I am not saying that our current crop are Mensa level but perhaps they are able to understand AVBs more intelligent approach, That could also why AVB did so badly at chelsea.;)

Harrys way is to buy a team of better players than the opposition. He had a good eye for a player. Unfortunately when the opposition are stacked full of world beaters his strategy comes unstuck.

Thats where AVB comes in and his tactics of getting 150% out of player who arnt as good through tactical discipline.

Harry could be tactical when he wanted, but I think a lot of his success was based on picking players with a certain attitude and developing a team spirit, where the players wanted to do well for him. It didn't work with all of them of course, but give him already talented players and he does have a knack of getting the best out of them. It's maybe less effective when things aren't going so well and you just need to grind out results. We're more efficient now, if less exciting
