According to English newspaper the London Times, AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are negotiating a deal that would see Marek Jankulovski and Gareth Bale swap clubs.

The Rossoneri are willing to give the Spurs the Czech international plus an additional €5 million for the services of the Welsh starlet during the winter transfer window that opens in January.

The 20-year-old has a boatload of potential and can also play as a left midfielder similar to Jankulovski. The report insists that negotiations are already well advanced.

Bale made 30 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham last season, but with the excellent form of Benoit Assou-Ekotto he may have a tough time breaking into the starting XI.

Meanwhile, Jankulovski has been a first team member of the Rossoneri since 2005.

He will stay.

I was on redcafe today and they were talking about the match against us and called him Gareth Fail, because of his record in the premiership (no wins).

On a sidenote, some of them posters over there also thought draw was a good result for them.

'The London Times'? Is there such a newspaper?!?

I assume Goal.com is a yank website, and they mean 'The Times'.

Unless they mean the 'London Lite', in which case this story just becomes even more laughable! :D

Jankulovski was a very good player a couple of years ago. Must be 32 or 33. Well past his best now. Hopefully Bale will reach his full potential with us. People tend to forget how young he is, he is younger than Naughton who is seen as one for the future.

Yup - Jankulovski is 32, and this would be a very bad deal for us. Bale has the potential to be one of the best LBs in world football. The ageing Jankulovski plus Euros 5m would be a rubbish deal.

Plus Gareth Bale is way too young to play in the AC Milan defence. You have to be close to drawing a pension to play in the Rossoneri back line....

Bale will go out on loan, somewhere like Reading or QPR for a month or two, get fit and sharp. Hopefully will come back at Xmas and be ready to contribute when Beni goes to ACN.

Needless to say, there is no mention of this tosh in the 'London' Times. This is why we didn't allow player threads based on 'news' from Goal.com, vitalfootball, etc. in Transfer Rumours.
