Personally, I think he will stay with us next season but if we fail to strengthen the squad with quality players to help push us to the next level, then he would be well within his rights to think about moving the season afterwards

you sure? he is still listed as 4 league assists and 4 europa league assists

Where? I looked at the Premier League website and they've got him listed as seven. I think that must be because Vertonghen's goal at Old Trafford was credited as an own goal, which would have nullified Bale's pass to Jan.

ESPN and Sky Sports, interesting. Suppose opinions vary on what is considered a true assist. Either way he has the ability to get more!

I think the PL site just take it as the last pass to the goalscorer, so Tom Carroll's pass to Bale v West Ham counts just as much as an assist as Rooney's for RVP's second on Monday.

Andy Goldstien just tweeted that he heard Bale has won both PFA awards...

Followed by a 'I'm not sure how true this is'..

Interesting.

:-D

To be honest, I don't know if he knows shit or not, not like he's a normal bloke off the street tweeting it though.

Although did just read it's announced on Sunday, so unlikely to be true!

My opinion is, he will be at Tottenham next season but if we do not strengthen with some quality players and push on, i doubt he will be the season after.

Ah, but in football anything can happen so quickly. At what point can we relax a bit though? We can't be re-visiting this topic on a weekly basis or it'll do our heads in so if we know he's with us next season then we should just put the story to bed for the year and enjoy having him at our club that bit more.

He's not worth selling now CL or not. His status is growing to the point where he'll be making us a load of money and Levy would be mad not to take full advantage of it while Bale is still developing his game. Madrid could offer £45m but with sponsorships and TV deals we'll get even more than that if we keep hold of him and add a few top players.

Great point. His Beckham-esque popularity is gaining us support and selling our merchandise so we are already earning more. We need to take this into account when it comes to selling as his price needs to be higher still.

Even if he stayed here ALL his career, like others before him(bale) we will eventually have to get used to life without him at some point in time.

Exactly.
He is younger than Ronaldo was when completing his move to Real. Has shown as much ability and consistency as Ronaldo did, IMHO. He hasn't won what Ronaldo had when he was sold, but the market has moved on, he is on a long contract, has immeasurable potential and incredible value in terms of marketing. I don't see why we shouldn't be demanding a Ronaldo-esque fee.

As an aside, I just did a wiki-check on Ronaldo, to establish how old he was when sold, and I have been disturbingly reminded that Beetroot Head complained to UEFA about the blatant tapping-up from Real, bit rich coming from United but Greasy was already talking about how much Real were going to pay him. UEFA, not untypically, refused to act.

All players come and go, they will always change, but there will always be one constant, the club - lets face it, it's THFC that's important to all of us. Every player idolised by the fans today will be replaced by another held in even greater esteem, get used to it.

In my opinion, it's ALL down to how his family feel. It's no secret that he has fairly recently become a father. It's no secret that he's very much a 'family man', and HR told the world that "my other players go off to Dubai or Vegas, Gareth goes home to see his mum".. He will NOT take leaving his family lightly!!

I think Bale is a breed apart (in the football world), not just in the sense that he's a 'family man', but also in the sense that he's clearly an intelligent young man. I think he realises that he can literally see out his contract, would still only be around 27 years of age & then have the pick of practically any club in the world. He's often spoke about how he's happy to continue his education at THFC, just as he's often spoke about how he's enjoying playing for the club & the supporters, so I don't foresee any change of club for him in the near future. I'm aware that he has also often spoken of his desire to play abroad (particularly Spain) but, like I said, he can see out his contract & would still only be 27 years old..

A point I have made, myself, previously: If we accept that, in general, players reach their peak at about 26 - 27 YO, Bale could actually stay with us for another three years and still be just entering his peak years when he moves. I would expect the next move to be trying to coax him into a new contract - and someone said the other day (I can't substantiate this, maybe someone else can), that Bale had actually told his advisers to seek a new contract.
Who knows, if our youth fulfill their potential, we get the new stadium built and the club continues to progress - he has spoken, several times, about how excited he is being part of what is going on at the club (y)
