AVB should just keep quiet about this, at the end of the day if Real/PSG come in with a £50-£60m bid then off he goes.

In all honestly I think it would take more than that, at his age only a long term injury (god forbid) could stop his asking price soaring. Its not just his ability but his marketability thats valuable, his name is in the same bracket as Beckham, Ronaldo, Rooney etc.

Sounds good and backs up what people close to the club have been saying all season; he will stay regardless.

It isn't possible. We have to accept that as manager of a team containing one of the hottest properties in world football right now, he is going to be asked a LOT of questions about him. You might not like it, but thems not onions, thems facts.;)

I just think that his stock will never be this high, if one of the european giants come in I'd be very surprised if he wants to stay. No matter how happy he says he is now, if we're in the europa he won't want to play in it. Now he's got these awards in the UK he'll want to get some european/world recognition on the biggest stage.

Let's be honest, why would Bale want to stay at Tottenham playing with players that are, quite frankly, below his level in the main?

I think avb has been a tad clever here by putting all the pressure onto el president and the board not to sell.

I'm sure he is well aware of other teams wanting him. He seems to want to stay for the time being, though. If he wanted out, there wouldn't be much stopping him. We would get a big number (too levy delicious) from Madrid and he would be off.

Not at you BBLG, but fuck me half the articles on the Spurs Chat first page are Bale related! My suggestion to the mods is that there's just one master thread called Bale into which everything else related to him can go, otherwise we're going to end up a one topic discussion board!!!

Ive just got back from Mars, Ive been away for 6 years, Who is this Bale chap?

I really think we should get that Juande Ramos bloke in from Sevilla, he can definitley take us to the next level. Most of all though I cant wait to visit the new stadium.

I honestly believe Levy will be looking considerably more than the figures touted. Are people forgetting he is a flipping animal.

Levy will be thinking another season like the one's he just had and you might be looking at a Ronaldo like figure, more.

Just remember that, unless he signs a new contract, from next summer the power shifts to him. Under two years on the deal left and Levy will get twitchy!

Maybe he has that elusive quality known as loyalty?

I dont expect him to see his career out with us, but he clearly loves playing for Spurs and being part of the squad, is settled and has time on his side.

I think he will be here next season.

Isn't the price more a function of what he wants to do? Modric itched for a move, so the price was at the low end of what we could have got as we didn't want the disruption to the club that he was causing. So if bale signs a new deal it would take a Ronaldo-type price to get him, if he doesn't and comes up to 2 yrs left on the old contract, I'd have thought it would be well under £50m, probably closer to the Modric figure in fact.

Of course as Spurs fans we all want him to stay but looking at it from Bale's position,I think if a club like Bayern come in for him then he should seriously look at it.
He would be learning from a top class manager and playing with great players every week.
He would be guaranteed major trophies and multiple opportunities to win the Champions League and go down as an all time great.

Let's be honest, what is he going to win at Spurs?

At this present time,he is far too good for us and is carrying this team.

There is only 3 factors that should keep him here.

1) We make top 4 this season.

2)The club spends a huge amount to improve this squad with quality players, especially in forward positions.
Not cheap solutions but players who will walk into the team.

3) We offer him a big wage increase.

If all this factors are not met........................he would be crazy not to go.

Make top four and its off the agenda for another year as far as Bale is concerned.
And Levy too because another year in the CL can only increase his value.
Finish 5th and a £50 million bid comes in then Bale and Levy will be of one mind.

Its an interesting process isnt it...a lot dependant on the CL. But if we dont make the CL does Bale stay and take a contract extension? I think he could but I also think it will be done on a deal basis. For example, Levy tells him - sign a new contract for 3 years at 150K but if we dont make the CL next season then its your choice to stay or go as long as we get 60m + for you.

All well and good but he's our asset and we are in a healthy position contractually. Everybody has a price and Bale is no different. Levy will have that price in mind and you have to factor in all the commercial potential. Levy's price will be a lot higher than most of us think - I would imagine.

So basically if no one gets close to matching it this summer it becomes sort of irrelevant what Bale wants. He won't do a Modric in any case.

Football is a business
Levy is first and foremost a business man
Bale is a valuable business asset
You judge your business assets on their market worth vrs what they provide to your business
Bales value depreciates on a daily basis at present the depreciation remains small enough not to consider the need to realise the value he holds, the tipping point will be the end of next season when his transfer value will start to decrease to an unacceptable level (assuming he doesn't sign a further contract extension)
Levy the businessman will then look to achieve the greatest price for an asset which is decreasing in value to his business

I think Bale will probably be sold next summer. However I think he'll also sign a new contract this summer.

I don't think it was at the low end at all. £30m was a decent price for a player like him.
