We will lose the odd top player though. The most important thing is we keep the squad consistent, stick with the manager and continue bringing through talent. So if we do lose a player, we have a ready made replacement who comes in like for like.

Our biggest problem over the years has been when we've kept changing manager. What it does is change the system and style of play. Which makes replacing players much harder.

It took us longer to replace Berbatov because we changed managers and changed the whole system again. We're now doing better without him because we have stuck with the same manager.

The thing with Bale is, he really is one of a kind. He's a special talent. So losing him would be like Utd losing Ronaldo. You know you'll never replace him, but already have enough quality throughout to still remain successful.

That's why you can't build a team around a player like we did with Carrick. You have to keep the balance right so you can replace injured players and still play just as well. The same goes for if they leave.

These International managers piss me off. WTF does transfer dealings surrounding any Club player have to do with them.

Heres fat boy Toshack spouting shite, you can only imagine what advice hes giving Gareth Bale.

Then we have Clapatoni telling Keane not to leave Spurs... at a time we were trying to trade him for a better player

As they say... Shut the fack up or we'll not let you have our players for your pathetic games

Well said Arkie, same as, what has offers for our players got to do with him, as long as Bale is playing regularly he has no need to comment.
As for Trap, he's changed his tune, he was all on for Robbie joining Liverpool said it would be a great move for him at the time, and look how that turned out. W***ers the lot of them, just trying to get a few minutes of limelight, as v few people could be bothered with boring international football at the moment.

Toshack said: "Gareth's form is not a surprise to us.
"If you go back to the start of the last World Cup qualifying campaign two years ago, Bale was named man of the match in the first three games - against Azerbaijan, Russia and Liechtenstein.
"I know Harry thinks he's performed some kind of miracle at White Hart Lane but it's certainly no surprise to us. We saw it at an early age.

This is true. He has been brilliant for Wales for years.

Think it would have been Real Madrid, as Mourinho has publicly come out and said he would be interested in Bale.

The Special One wanted Bale and Jenas as a package but we put our foot down and said we're not letting JJ go.

The important thing is it went on in the background and lead to nothing. Obviously there will be interest in him, as there will with several of our players now. That's what happens as you get better. We just have to keep improving and competing at the top end of the table. That way they'll have no reason to leave.

Bale is still young anyway. So he'll be in no rush to move. He can be a real star here as he already is atm. He wont get that at a better club right now. Hopefully as he grows up, we'll be even better and more successful. So he'll still want to stay and lead us to glory.

I agree with this. We are a Club on the up and Bale is one of the star men here. There is no rush whatsoever for him to jump ship. This year is so important though, if we can consolidate fourth the squad, in the main, should stay together and we will be able to strengthen again were needed.

That is such a false statement, they could have offered us £200million and we could have still said no. No off er is impossible to refuse especially if the player is willing to stay

You serious? Levy would have snapped their arm off for 50m let alone 200m

I guess you've never been a businessman...

Why does Levy being a business man matter when it comes to refusing a deal, if you don't think you can replace the player you don't sell him (that is providing the player is not throwing his toys out the pram like berbatov)

Yes I know football is also a business but a large offer does not mean you are forced to sell

There's a big difference in being forced to sell and pondering over an offer too good to turn down eg impossible to refuse. If Levy turned down 50m or 200m like you said his business acumen would seriously come into question by other business people especially those connected with the club.

Bored of this nothing debate...

If Maureen is that keen on him, £40M and Higuain or Benzema (if he isn't sent daahn). Maybe the VDV tip off was a sweetner?

Although those of us that are not with the fairies all know it was Manu it is highly likely that Real and the Italian giants will try to sign him.
I believe Toshack's motivation in mentioning this is because he thinks he'll unsettle him and Bale will move to Pool in part exchange for Konchesky and a second hand Beatles album.

it was real madrid....

they bid £22m which was rejected & then £26m which was also rejected out of hand....

during madrids attempts for bale, van der vaart was mentioned to us to be available at £14m....(£4m less than bayern as time was running out, not the crazy £10m difference quoted)...

madrid then came back late in the day & offered us a retainer of £2m a season for 3 seasons (length of mourinhos contract), total ammount £6m to have 1st option on bale should we decide to sell....import to stress it is just 1st option should we wish to sell but its seen as good business by them because they beleive he would go to an elite club challenging with them should he go...

£14m-£6m is £8m.....hence the price for van der vaart!
