Think he's been a shadow of the player that we saw at his best last season.

Don't know if this is due to him being in a really restricted RW role that is severely limiting him, or just that he's still not up to speed, but you very rarely see him dribbling past defenders with power, pace and close control over in spain.
Yeah he's still scored and made a few good goals, but not been great even in those games.

Its a totally different game out with Real tho.
Week in week out they are on the attack against teams who sit deep and bale doesn't get the opportunity to drive forward from deep. Also when Real get the bal they have outlets so many more outlets that he doesnt see the ball as early as he did at spurs.
However, i think he's been adapting well - considering the injuries and lack of fitness - and has shown that he is not out of place in that team. he will get better and better as he adapts his game, and prove that he is world class.
good luck to the guy.

Sky have the highlights of Real's match against Osasuna from this week. Bale just made a one of his trademark outside of the boot crosses, dropped it right on Ronaldo's right boot. Shame the greasy one made a hash of it but still sublime. He then went and delivered a perfect through ball that led to the second goal.

Playing as well as ever if you ask me. Makes me grimace when you consider he could be doing that for Soldado this season, but nevertheless I'm glad he's doing well for them. Welsh Galactico indeed.

Done pretty well out of us haven't they this Madrid shower. Where'd they be without us?

Pretty much all of last sesaon we had teams come to the Lane and sit deep., and on lots of occassions he would be at his best picking up the ball sort of inside left position and just making something happen by using his close dribbling and power and commiting players, Sure they are probably better defenders in Spain but i don't think i've seen him outpace anyone in a striaght race with the expection of when a defender has dived in or tried to intercept, and i refuse to believe that all defenders in Spain are quicker than in England.

I would agree with all of that except the better defenders part, the overall quality in the PL from top to bottom is so much better than La Liga. I think he is probably playign at 75% right now.

Fair Point, tho last season he saw so much more of the ball as well, whereas he is seeing a lot less ball this season. Also, he probably feels the pressure to pass to more established players a little more at the moment. When he truly settles into the team, i think we'll start seeing some of his trademark runs.
Also, i agree with Donki - i don't think he is fully match fit either.

I would say he's playing more like he was before last season as he is storming down the wings and putting incredible crosses in (seriously they are virtually perfect) and he is unstoppable in full speed so he is playing very well. He's getting more assists than goals now and isn't cutting inside as much and shooting.

But when he combines the wing play with the cutting inside and scoring, he'll be rivalling Messi and Ronaldo.
I think he'll be so important for them this season- he has a match-winning ability that I don't see in any other players excluding the top 2 and I'm sure he'll come up with some 30-yarder at one point in the season to win the match...

I miss Bale. We really would be challenging for the title if he was in this team we have now.

So in other words if we had spent 100M NET. Which is just pure fantasy.

I wasn't suggesting that, I was just remarking that he would thrive in our team-you could say that for loads of other players in the world

The interesting question would be if he had stayed and we had not got, say, Lamela, Soldado, Paulinho and Eriksen could we be title contending? Probably yes!

I reckon that under Sherwood, Bale would get 30 goals in the PL...

Neither Giggs or Bale has had a season like Clive Allen where he scored 49 goals.
Giggs has been a very important player for Man United, in his prime certainly a world class player. Not considered the best in the team because he is played with some excellent players. No one has won more in English football. Definitely one of the best of all time, can't say that about Bale yet.
Come on you aren't comparing Bale to Allen, Allen had the best spurs midfield of the 80's behind him and out midfield could barely create a chance last season.

Yes giggs played with some great players but he has never been the best player in the league(he won it once but that was because he was old and everyone felt sorry for him that he never won it before). Even if you hear man united fans/players speak they say scholes was the most important player in the team and had it not been for him we would of won as many games as we did.

Giggs has been one of the greatest players in PL history but he never reached Bale's level of demolishing teams by himself

Well yes because you said Giggs has never had a season like Bale, so I pointed out neither of them have had a season like Allen. Allen had a good midfield behind him but still had to stick the ball in the net. Would Defoe score 49 goals with Midfield behind him? I think not.

Giggs didn't need to demolish teams on his own because other excellent players chipped in. I would compare Bales contribution as one similar to the contribution that Matt le Tiss made for Southampton. He dominated teams regularly and scored even more memorable goals than Bale consistently. The best goal tally for Le Tiss is 25 and he score 20 a couple of times.

Bale will never repeat the season he has had with unless he can play in a free role and he isn't been played there at the moment.

He's been ravaged by injuries this season and yet he still has 7 goals and 7 assists in 11 games in the league o_O

I still don't think he will reach the level he had with us last season, stuck out on the wing, by all accounts he hasn't so far.

He still doesn't have that 'aura' that he did with us, but that's gonna be harder to have in a team full of world class players.

One player that has really impressed me in the Real Madrid team is Modric, he's so much more commanding and tenacious in their midfield and really puts himself about.
