from the Daily Mail

"It was our fault we lost the Carling Cup, it was not that Tottenham played fantastic football'

- cos of course we were really worried CFC were gonna overpower us with their fantastic football -

oh wait they played the normal Chelsea way - how remiss of me to forget

To be fair though, from his point of view, although we did play really welll on the day, Chelsea did not. If they had played to form, the result may have been a lot different.

But that is football and it's about "on the day". Ballack's team-mates never turned up - our guys did and the rest is history.

c'mon PT you're being way too generous :)

Chelsea aren't that good- sure they grind out a lot of results and they do a lot of cheating - but they ain't no Man U - (except the cheating bit :)

we out played them,

we out thought them,

our manager picked the correct team,

we out sung them,

we out did everything we possibly could on that day.

That is the reason we won the cup final, not because chelsea did not turn up.

we should of won by more than 2 goals...

unless of course that we outplayed them because they didnt turn up.

im chuffed to hell with the result but if chelsea had a manager who was an incompetent fool then i have a feeling it would have been a different result

well said GP :) the nerve of Chelsea to suggest that it was all about them - and that somehow we're like Barnsley absolutely powerless before the mighty Chelsea if they decide to put it together

that's why they beat us 4-0 at the Lane this year - oh wait they didn't - that's why they beat us 6-1 at the Lane the year before - oh wait they didn't

the arrogance is astounding

Ballack wants to learn some history - we've played them in two finals and won the both of them

oh and what happened in the semi final of the league cup last time we met them before Wembley - yep that's right they beat us 5-1 - oh wait they din't they lost 5-1 and and 6-3 on aggregate

I would love it absolutely love it if Fenerbache turn them over tomorrow (as long as pool do Arsenal tonight :)

Grant is not such a bad guy, so I ascribe all the bad attitude of Chelsea players to the time they learned it from the Portugese cheat.

And did they not turn up at the Lane when they failed to beat us again? and when they got away with a point due to a last second lucky save?
And did they not turn up on the beaches of Normandy oh! sorry wrong match!

What Herr Ballack fails to understand is Ramos' mastery of anti-tactics. It's no surprise Chelsea played poorly. We made them play poorly. They could play that game a 100 more times and they'd still play poorly. That's the different between our coach and Avram 'the Hutt' Grant.

We probably didn't play fantastic football, but we played an excellent final and deservedly won and he of all people should understand that fine line between winning and losing.

I don't think they gave us the Carling Cup, we outplayed them and he should be decent enough to simply say the best team on the day won it.

Who was in charge had no bearing at all imo, sure grant picked a different team to that Jose or another manager may have picked, but we would have still nullified how they played. Ramos gets it tactically right 9 times out of 10. Ronaldo can't stop scoring, yet in his last two games against us(barring Cernys balls up) we've kept him very very quiet.

I think that's pretty much what the party line from the Chelsea camp was. I think it was JT who said as much.

Yeah I've noticed Grant never seems to give the opposition much credit when they get beaten. I've really started to dislike the bloke.

Yeah, I saw Drogba say similar things. Think they knew they were outplayed

But I do think Ballack's comments are being blown out of proportion. Is hardly the worst comment anyone's made, though not really sure why it's being made so far after the fact
