A point I haven't seen discussed on here is - how is our attacking midfield affected if we have to move N'jie or Son up front? Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela hardly created a lot last season but we were lucky enough to have Super Kane up front.
With N'jie or Son up front we'd have faux strikers relying on a fairly lacklustre attacking midfield to provide scoring opportunities.
As you said, it's a season of 'what ifs'. I guess that applies to every team, bit more so when you don't address key areas.
Right. Maybe it's why I'm not all that down in the dumps about it, besides not taking this football stuff all that seriously anymore. The fact we have such a young squad is a positive in these less than ideal times. More wriggle room and adaptability. Certainly more than if we had the same problems but with players all well into reaching a decade of first team football already. No chance of changing habits then.As you said, it's a season of 'what ifs'. I guess that applies to every team, bit more so when you don't address key areas.
It's certainly not fear. More like bored anticipation of the inevitable. Better to be pleasantly surprised than get your hopes up for no reason.Hell Yeah!
why not? Better to live in hope than fear.

I think the saddest thing is that I forget the reality of our dull football about an hour before every game, then less than a minute in it all comes flooding back.Isn't that the saddest thing. It's so bloody boring.
I think history tends to airbrush many things. Yes, we had some great runs under Harry, with some great football, but then there were also periods where we couldn't score at home to lowly teams, plenty of times.I think the saddest thing is that I forget the reality of our dull football about an hour before every game, then less than a minute in it all comes flooding back.
We used to be the entertainers of the Prem not so long ago. League positions weren't as good, but did just as well on the trophy front and at least we were usually, erm, entertaining.
I can still be entertained by a clinical and efficient display, but we don't even get that.

Come on people, we need a positive note to our season. Our club has been run well, we have a good coach and a talented group of players.
I was upset by the Berahino saga and the failure to get support for Kane but I am feeling much more upbeat with Son and Njie on board. In my view we can take the low road and all that comes with that - negativity, criticism, being Spursy to the extreme etc or we can take the positive route. I really believe that this is a group of players we can be proud of and we need to back them to the hilt. Not pull them down week after week with the criticism that I see constantly on SC match threads and so on. Lets throw a little bit of unconditional love around for a change and watch the magic start to flow
Having watched us this season so far and last I would be amazed if we get 8th.
Son could be amazing though. I genuinely think our season hinges on him.
No pressure then...
I agree with that, I can see no way at all that we will finish in the top 6:
For each of the last 6 seasons I really believed we could get top 4 but just don't see it this year. The Sunderland game is vital, get a win and the season really gets going. If we lose however then Poch is going to be under pressure from the press
