I play Thursday league power league.

My team is bottom of the bottom division, Lokomotiv RAGE.

I am noticing a shitload more so called Yids than every before. Is anyone else noticing more Yids?

I'm not saying it's the level of the gooners or chelsea in the mid 2000s winning the league where EVERY male child under the age of 6 was donning a full chelsea/gooner kit wherever you looked, but supposed Spurs fans are on the up.

A mate of a mate the other day decided to become a Spurs fan aged 23..:-|

It's all good in the hood to have genuine Yids on board, but are you noticing an increase of them? I hate fair weather and bandwagon fans. I reckon when the new shirt comes out, it will be one of the highest selling ever. The home shirt looks quality compared to many recent years, and we have the bandwagon too. Mark my words.

Just to reiterate, I'm all for new fans, if they are genuine. The bandwagon can fuck off though!

Discuss.

edit: the relevance of my saying i play in power league is coz there are obviously tonnes of guys there in footy shirts, and it's here I notice it most.

If it means more revenue for the club then it's all good.

You get bandwagoners everywhere, no point stressing over it.

I have seen more Tottenham shirts up in Scotland the last 2 years that i think i have ever seen (bar all mine, my dads and brothers) in all the time i have been up here.

So yes, im seeing more.
Load of bandwagon fans up here though. Know one kit that has gone through all on Arsenam, ManU and Chelsea.... its a sad thing to see.

I hate this attitude. What does it matter? Surely we should just be happy they've chosen Spurs. I hate the elitism you get within fans.

that's ok as long he didn't use to be a big liverpool fan or something. what we don't want is people changing clubs to spurs, because they'll just switch again when we have a bad season. but as long as we're their first premiership club they've properly supported, the more the merrier

^^ i say "first premiership club" because we should welcome anyone who is a real fan of a lower league or foreign club but has never supported any of our competitors

You're probably seeing more Spurs fans about as we actually have something to shout about for a change!

Instead of hiding in the shameful shadows of our rivals, some might feel buoyed by the exciting direction our club appears to be going in!

Im all for new fans, one of my best friends from Norway didn't follow an english football team before, i lead him to Spurs, and he loves it. Im no more a fan than he is.

It's hard to say.
My first year as a Yiddo was the year we were relegated...so I kinda wear that as a badge of perverse pride. And we do like to ridicule glory hunters, United fans, in particular, because they know nothing at all of football and just want to 'support' a team of winners so they can feel superior to everyone else (we've all known them).
By the same token, we've qualfied for prelim. CL once...it's not like we've won the EPL 8 seasons running, or anything, so I wouldn't have any problems with fans from overseas (PA thread current...e.g. USA), or young lads, find attraction in the history and traditions of the club, and the style of play.
What I definitely wouldn't be happy about would be if we did win the league 8 seasons running :)grin:) and ex 'Chelsea' or United' (or 'Citeh') fans decided they were Spurs fans and started trying to tell us all all about football and how they were the biggest fans ever...that is just a kick in the happy-sack material:bang:

I hate that they'll never have to endure the pain of witnessing the footballing abortion that was David Kerslake pulling on the shirt in anger or have the laughable, even at the time, realisation that the Andy Sintons and Ruel Foxs of this world represent one of the most skilful players in the starting XI. I hate their guts for that. They should have to suffer too.

Otherwise, ker-ching! Don't be a big fat fizzle and far cough at the first sign of trouble. Have a beer and welcome aboard.

I became a "proper" Spurs fan at the age of 28. I had been following Swindon as a kid when I lived nearby, but Spurs were my favourite top division team in a kind of unfocused way. When I moved to London I went to games at Fulham, Brentford, Chelsea, Spurs and even Arsenal. The place where I enjoyed the footie and atmosphere most was Spurs.

This was back in 1987, so does that make me a bandwagon jumper? Hopefully with London being a place where many people relocate, we'll attract more new blood to help fill the prospective stadium. Numbers on a waiting list will not fill the stadium, new fans will and happily our current set up seems to be attracting the latest batch of the undecided.

I dont think theyre new fans. Ive only started wearing my shirt for pitch invasion since no one else on my team wears our actual kit and loads of people comment Ive only come out of the woodwork now spurs are doing well.

The worse thing is being accused of being one. I wore a spurs polo shirt to the pub about a week after the season ended. Got accused by a Chelsea fan (!) of jumping on the Champions League bandwagon as he'd never met me before. Fuck off!!!

I'm glad people are finally seeing the light. I remember the moment I became a Spurs fan. Dec 7th 1986. I was 8. ( Just looked that up, didnt know the exact date obviously). A
3-3 draw with man united when we made a great comeback . Think Kevin Moran scored an own goal for them to make it a draw. was impressed by the spirit. Its obviously been lacking at times since then but last season was worth all the frustration Ive suffered since. As long as it doesnt make it too hard to get tickets I dont mind too much.
There is a guy at my work who supports Blackburn. He started supporting them when they won the league ( he's from SW London) and look at the shite he has to put up with now. Ha ha... he actually travels up there to watch the shit they play..... A perfect example of a bandwagon jumper coming unstuck.

its not just now its been happening over the last few years.... had been going to the lane since i was a kid in the mid 60's & had a season ticket for many a year. dont go anymore just away games with some of the same group that i began going to the lane with as kids.
its only at bigger games now that you find anything that resembles an atmosphere at the lane now.. theres loads of reasons why but the rabid hostile place that i grew up with has gone & been replaced by a place 20 something tossers with glued hair go & bring thier girlfriends with them.. i know that will upset a few but at least i'm honest.

have some lifelong friends that support that lot down the road who stopped going to thier home games when they moved to their new ground..again because real fans have been cast aside.
i knew then that the same fate was coming & the more success the club has now the more the lane will change with what i'd call "football tourists" will become more evident to real fans than ever before....
still love the club with the same passion i always have but the lane is not a place for me anymore.

my sig is from a passport when i was young... evidence of being on the bandwagon long ago.

For some it is a question of identity and what it represents to support spurs and a change in the clubs fortunes will alter the way in which they may be perceived.
Nevertheless, more fans of whatever origin can only be good for our growth. A person in a spurs shirt is still a yido to me, regardless of whether they first saw a game yesterday or was a fan in the park lane watching us win the double.
