According to a brief headline on L'equipe, the Daily Star is reporting that Barca have offered 19mil + Eto'o for Adebayor but my work has the rags site blocked - says due to nudity, but i know it's due to shitity if anything.

Anyone provide some cut n paste action, or maybe any other sources to give this story any credence?

Done.

BARCELONA will this week offer Samuel Eto’o plus £15m to Arsenal in a final attempt to lure Emmanuel Adebayor to the Nou Camp.

Barca chiefs dumped Eto’o from their plans for next season but have since failed to shift the striker they rate at £25m.

Without cash from an Eto’o sale, they can’t find the £35m Arsenal want for Togo hitman Adebayor.

So with just three weeks to go before they have to register their Champions League squad with UEFA, they will offer Eto’o plus cash for Abedayor.

Gunners coach Arsene Wenger is understood to be a big fan of Eto’o, who scored against Arsenal in the Champions League final three years ago. But he is believed to have reservations about the age and fitness of the Cameroon striker.

Eto’o is 27 years old and has missed big chunks of the last two seasons with serious knee injuries. He has also developed a reputation at Barcelona for controversy with criticism of team-mates to the Press.

Last season he upset fans by admitting he would leave if the club won nothing again and was promptly dumped on the ‘not wanted’ list by new coach Pep Guardiola.

His image appears in none of Barcelona’s pre- season publicity but they now fear he will still be their player next season.

So, in a last-ditch attempt to land Adebayor, they are desperate to persuade Arsenal to take Eto’o.

This is one story I find relatively plausible.

Agreed, that was the only reason i was curious as to the article - seems more than likely that this could happen. Whether the Woolwich are interested in it is another matter, but i would imagine it's tempting...

Bloody tempting. I can't believe Barca would sanction this for a one season wonder when they could possibly get Berbs for less than 30m.

Unless of course, Eto'o is a complete wanker for the dressing room or has a serious injury.

I know the sites opinion of Guilleme Balague but I read a very interesting piece by him a couple of months back where Rafa's buddy proposed that Eto'o had been near dreadful this campaign compared to previous years. He scored plenty as, frankly, who wouldn't with those players around him? But that overall his pace has dropped by 20-30% (I may be entering the realms of fantasy now but it rings a bell) and that his movement was much weaker due to his injuries.

He just doesn't strike me as a very Wenger signing either.

Mind you, I'd be very worried if the Gooners bought someone who could actually hit the net. With the chances they create he could score 25+ goals next season. Even if he's not at his best still.

Seems the Woolwich aren't concerned enough to be talking about this either - had a gander on Woolwich-Mania (though for some reason i can't reply to topics anymore, whereas i used to be able to) and there's not even a mention that i can see
