I think the issue is that these “against the run of play” goals seem to be a feature, not a bug, or the defensive system.

One wrong move or missed tackle and we’re absolutely wide open.
It's not an easy transition from our previous system to this one. If anything can be learned from Celtic, it's that it will be shaky early on. In time we won't let that happen. Expecting us to have perfected the system this early on is kinda crazy

Expected we would fade as the game went on.

Reduced games and 5 subs should help us with the transition to such a high energy game this season.
I think my worry is almost the opposite, too many players and not enough games. Especially if we bow out the cups early.

I'm loving the way we're playing but when you're 2-1 up with 7 minutes to go I'm not sure it's wise to have the defence pushed up to the halfway line, especially when one of your centre backs is Eric Dier.

I'm surprised how much the players are able to implement in 6 weeks

Not sure about porro or spence as backup right backs, porro really only looks solid going forward and spence seems like he's got a bit of the tanguy's about him.

Some good spells in the game with good passing and movement under pressure.
Yves was the standout performer for me but good stuff from a lot of players...

Won't mention Dier and Reg. :cautious:

Dier hasn’t been appearing on any lists of players we are open to offers for. But surely a word is now going to be had with him to let him know that it’s in his interest to find somewhere to go.

Verdict is still out in regards to Vicario but doesn’t help with Dier in defence.

Maybe stating the obvious here, but think we’ve just witnessed the next superstar from Barcelona - pretty much single handedly turned that game on its head

Are people blaming Dier for the last one? I don't know who's man that was, but it was either CB
I do not think it was mainly his fault, but if he was better, he would have defended that :p

ofc as a CB you must decide if you are going to go out and defend the mistake your wingback did, go in and defend the incoming player or try to cut in bwtween the line, problem is that he does not read play well, it was very clear the pass would come inside so a better defender would do the sprint in to the barca player, but it is not in Diers nature, he is to focused on watching the ball

Yeah I suspect we're going to have to get some loans/sales sorted in January once Ange has settled on his preferred 18-20 players.

Yea sort of agree. We do maybe need a little game management possibly

I don't care about the result. A really good performance considering the players we left out.

And yeah, horrible defending from Dier and Reguillon. But I'm not upset.
