Some really good performances last night. Bissouma was so good. What we paid for him was a bargain. Compare that to Mctominay.

Dier was always a bit shit as a CB and that was in a 3 CB formation. Under Jose and Conte he began to find his rhythm a bit under a defensive based style of football, largely because there were two other CBs alongside him and the rest of the team was sitting deep and also defending.

It’s absolutely no surprise that he’s out of his depth in a back 2 and more so completely out to sea when in a team that relies on quick passing, attacking based football.

Dier, unfortunately for him, couldn’t be any less suited to a CB role in an Ange team.

It’s unfortunate as he’s a great guy, so there’s no need to lay into him, he just isn’t a fit for the way we’re going to play football going forward and for his own sake he needs to realise this and move on.

I don't doubt that but he is paid a lot of money a week he was the captain and you're telling me he can't do a slide block or attempt to tackle a guy as last man?

I take back him throwing the game but he had given it up which is as good as.

Fair point, for whatever reason his attitude isn’t there either right now.

Porro.

Even Ali Gold somehow came to the conclusion that Porro was significantly worse than Dier and Reguilon yesterday.

Yeah you could definitely be into something.

Weird rating from Ali. Porro’s positioning was slightly off for their first goal but apart from that he was absolutely fine. Best defensive performance I’ve seen from him.

Reguilon is an abysmal defender. Porro was at fault for their first goal but played all right following that.

Looking at Barca''s 2nd and 3rd goal Dier has no interest in defending.

He is either spent or he's throwing the game.

Absolutely disgusting.
There was fault with his defending for those goals, but that doesn't mean he threw the game or showed no interest, which are poor comments to make about a player. I'm no fan of Dier, but come on......

I have been unsure of Ali's ratings system for a while now. Highly questionable in several aspects
Always worth remembering that just because someone writes about football for a living doesn't mean they have better understanding/ opinions on it. Same goes for podcasters/content creators and a lot of pundits especually on TalkS****

Only saw the first half but thought we were fantastic barring the first couple of minutes. Every time we start a new midfielder I think "he's got to start on Sunday". At the moment I have Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Lo Celso and Skipp all starting on Sunday. :shy:

Oh absolutely. I really like the guy and his YT videos are good value too. He also talks far more sense than 90% of pundits and podcasters (especially the Talksport mugs)

Yeah I agree. Ali is good value and I like his work especially the more factual reporting. I just don't always agree with his opinions on players etc. But they are honestly held opinions unlike many other people in the media today.

And when Bentancur gets back fit we have really good competition for that midfield trio. I'd say it'll be Bissouma and Maddison with one other on Sunday.

You're right I shouldn't have said that, I was angered because no matter about level of ability I don't like seeing players not trying.

I watched players on Sunday and last night giving there all for the badge.

Another player no manager asked for that Levy thought he could make money on. Does not look like he has the right attitude.

And i also think he is more suited to the wingback role and not a winger alongside Scarlet. So might not be the best match to judge him, only his first 15 min all pre season
Even so, he could ‘run about a bit’ and track back showing some hunger

I thought both FBs were pretty poor last night. Sanchez was excellent and Dier wasn't very good but nowhere near as bad as the scapegoating suggests.

Bissouma will be a key player for us now. He really seems to have grabbed the opportunity. Loved Skippy's performance. Hopefully we will have no more "I don't see it" posts. Lo Celso is great backup/competition for Maddison.

Dier may be shit but I can’t ever imagine he’d throw a game.

Oh, and Barcas RW sub was outstanding. Totally terrorised our left side those last 15.

Even though it was just a "friendly" I really enjoyed the game and there were some good performances from our 2nd choice players which is great for the squad. Bissouma just seems to get better every time I see him and expect him to be a regular starter this season and Lo Celso has to stayed if only as a back up. He's now showing why we pain the money for him. I thought Richarlason was very poor, I've never been a real fan I think he tries hard and gets stuck in but very little end product for me. If we rely on him for goals after Kane goes I think we will be disopointed.
