Sugar is a complete retard

"AVB should be fired. No tactics. Been lucky up till now with results. How can he put Huddlestone as pen taker? Then Adebayor you knew would miss."

His main skill on twitter is showing why he's an absolutely terrible chairman and shouldn't be anywhere near a football club.

Will the 120 minutes of football here affect us against City?? Or do you think a week is plenty of time for a nice rest and 110% in the tank? Just wondering about the psychological side of it as well.

Sunday League officials.

Carroll MoM by a country mile - we're simply a different team with him on the field.

He is The Metronome Kid.

No idea why AVB doesn't use him more, it's a bit mad. He's our modric replacement.

Loved how Walker managed to fucking t-bag a player lol The guy is a nutter...no, really.

Loved how when Dempsey scored he head bumped everyone but when he went up to cuddles, cuddles rejected the head bump to protect his fro and just...well, gave him a cuddle.

Ade - just...please...just...ffs...please...pleeeease... ... ah fuck it. The guy is a mystery wrapped in an enigma, sprinkled with lazy and dipped in clueless.

Overall, some decent stuff amongst the drab and uninspiring, but, inevitably, our suicidal tendencies got the better of us...yet...again. We would have won that in normal time if verts had stayed on the field.

We were never gonna win on pens with our suspect mentality and you could tell how confident and absolutely assured Basel were that they were gonna smash them in.

Anyway, all eyes on the CL!:) And I'll give a big hurrah for that(y) We gave this comp a good go; now for the proper business end of the season - full focus on that.

Oh, and no injuries(y) (y)

Its god dam disgrace to see some of the comments. A supporter is someone that follow the team and support it through good and bad times. to come with comments like" AVB OUT Adebayor out is embarrasing. Ade worked his as off in my opinion tonight. Come with some mature comments. We as Spurs supporters need to be bigger than that,

He's an embarrassment to the club, always looking for an excuse to be negative.

I might be wrong but are things like this ingrained in the club? The near misses, the despair? I know it is what makes us who we are in a way. But it is hard to take a lot of the time. 7 penalty shoot out losses in a row? That can't be normal - for any team apart from us.

I afraid to say that when penalties began I feared the worst. I will, like most of you, always support the team. But that nagging feeling is always there and perhaps that fear permeates to the players.

Can we ever change? Or is money the only way to get out of the cycle? Man City used have this trauma (probably even worse than us) but bought their way out of it to some extent. Maybe I'm over-analysing everything but sometimes I feel as if we are cursed.

Really.... Arsenal have a game in hand and seem to have found a rhythm.

We are stuttering and our best players are injured.

We have had a great season considering, but we are fucked now. Mainly because Levy has fucked us once again in the transfer windows.

We had to beat Arsenal and Chelsea at home and then Manchester City away that season to secure fourth. That even included us losing on the last day away to Burnley.

Lennon and Bale might be back for our next match but certainly have some part to play in the rest of this season.

Arsenal may have found rhythm... so did we? Look how easily we lost ours.

Chelsea have another two midweek games to play now, I fail to see how we are 'fucked'. If we are why don't we just stop playing football now?

This is a true story. I remember missing a Pen in an important school cup final once in front of a large crowd, it was possibly the worst pen ever, real bad, worse than Ade's.

What did I do? I looked to the sky and smiled, had a little chuckle. I dunno why I did this, at the time I had a million things running through my mind and desperately trying not to burst into tears I guess, and I'm not sure I was completely in control of what I did. I think also I was partly having a conversation with myself, like 'fucking hell, how did I manage to do that?' Guess it was my way of coping and trying not to let it deflate me.

I'm not sure what point I'm trying to make here, I guess that until you're in that situation you don't know how you are going to react. As I said there's a million and one reactions and things going on in your head and different people react in different ways. Some are overly devastated, some tough it out, some try and brush it off. To me he seemed to half grin and show his face, but for a split second. He didn't walk away laughing. It was probably just one of the number of thoughts/emotions, plus (I assume he does give a shit) trying to cope with it.

Proud of the lads. Didn't expect us to get that far into the game. Well done. Can't fault any of them and what is the point anyway.

But fuck me we are shit at penalties. As a club. We are shit at penalties.

If Sugar really wrote that then he's just embarrassing himself.

Marginal stuff. It could have been us, it could have been them. A couple of refereeing mistakes but can't blame those. We were just lacking that bit of extra quality and depth to make sure we won v Basel over 2 legs so it went to the wire. I thought the 14 players we played tonight gave their all. Yes, we can nitpick over individuals but I felt Walker, Dawson, Carroll, Holtby, Siggi and Dempsey did very well and the others were ok. Sure, mistakes in the rain from Dembele and Adebayor and Vertonghen but shit happens.

I haven't read the thread posts during the match. I prefer even crap ITV and Ladbrokes ads to reading SC comments during tense matches.

So long as AVB, Freund and our U-18/U-21 and first team squad are given a couple more years and some reinforcement, nights like tonight are what it takes to forge long term determination and desire.
