If Christian Falk is to be believed, Bayern hold all the cards even beyond the end of this season. Falk has now come out and claimed that Bayern will be paying Nagelsmann until the end of his contract in 2026 – not just till this summer. He says Chelsea or Tottenham will have to pay the German giants a transfer fee if they want to appoint him at any point before his deal runs out.

Bayern are not prepared to make it easy for either club.

Absolute rubbish.

They might not have a break in the contract if sacked. Which means they continue to pay him, until he gets a new job, at which time they're contract obligation ends.

It'll cost money but they hardly want to pay him until his contract ends. Whomever wants him negotiates a sum and then he's released from his Bayern contract.

No, but what they're alleging is against EU Employment Law.

They' ve Sacked him, and at most they could try to 'enforce' is 6 months/1 year, whilst they are paying his contract. They would just stop paying his contract when he takes a new job.

They might have a contract clause for the rest of the season which may require a 'buy Out' but pass this, it would have no standing in law

What EU employment law, specifically?

Employment termination procedures, which are in fact a German clause but within EU guidelines. The only way to overrule these is by local negotiation, in this case between Nagelsman and Bayern, which of course would have happened. But the cannot extend over the period of notice which in his case is 3 months due to his time in charge. So, unless Bayern have an early escape clause like, a 5 year deal was signed but in the event of dismissal other than gross misconduct, the contract would cease 1 year after dismissal., Bayern would need to pay for that period up until Nagelsmann is employed by another party.

Pretty sure that amounts to a restriction of trade. You can't sack someone and then control their lives for years after, maybe for the notice period but I'm not even sure that counts in this case.

Yup, as @worcestersauce and @CantSmileWithoutYou have stated this kind of approach infringes EU Law so I suppose the claim is totally bullshit.

At worst Bayern will be paying his salary until he takes up a new role at another club and he may be expected to pay back a part or whole of the signing on bonus (if it's contractually agreed) if he does move to another club however that is entirely between Bayern and Nagelsmann and won't stop him signing for another club it just may make it financially difficult for him.
