One of the reasons I wanted to come to Paris was we decided on something quite unique. I won't receive any salary. My salary will go to a local children's charity. That's one of the things we're excited and proud to do. It's something exciting and I'm not sure it's been done before.
Absolutely amazing gesture in my eyes which i think is gonna make so many people eat their words after criticising him for going to PSG for the money.

A lot of respect for that.

Agree with you Shanks. Everything he does I pretty much idolize. Style, attitude, ability, dress sense. Really is a true pro on and off the pitch. Would love to meet him one day!

It is class and a nice idea to spend the money but I honestly think he received a huge amount only to sign there and now they are doing this to save Beckhams status so that the media can't judge him for going there only for money reasons.

Anyway, good for them who receiving it!

The cynic in me says that he is doing it so people cant criticise him for being a waste of money if he's no good. Either that or PSG were not too interested.

Why the need to publicize?
Plenty of people give to charity without letting the public know.
In fact plenty of footballers do without the publicity e.g Bellamy, Ade and other African ballers.
Sorry but its the truth Ruth.

Harsh. It is a great move and he's going to get publicity anyway why not use it for some good. If the extra publicity he gets can raise awareness for the charity as well then even better. Knowing his effect in Asia, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are quite a lot of people researching what this charity is that their idol is supporting and offer some sort of donation themselves to at least be a part of what their hero is doing. The power of Beckham is quite unique and can't really be compared to Bellamy or Ade, and I think in this case his transparency is a good thing.

I think the bloke is just generally a good a guy.

His image rights will earn far more for both him and the club than his wages will cost. I guess it's a win, win, win situation.

Please tell me more about how 'plenty of people' hand over their entire earnings over the course of a lucrative contract to charity.
