Does anyone really care, what this guy has to say.

Something which rhymes with banker comes to mind.
People need to get over him being married to posh spice or his now celebrity status. He was a fine footballer, probably the best of his generation. How do you know he's a 'banker'? Have you met him? From the little I've seen of him, he appears a very nice family man.
Your quotes are everything I hate, and everything that's wrong with internet culture.

D.B. was a good footballer and England Captain; it's great that he recognises our two young players...so I care what he has to say'tcyrus'

Best of his generation , I don't think so !
Since leaving the game, what has he given back to it,
The marketing of Beckham make so many people deluded.

Beckham should take his millions and go sit down somewhere.
And deluded people should see him for what he is,
A marketing, media tool.

I think the fact that he was invited onto a radio programme and asked what he thinks about various things (including Kane and Alli), which that programme (Talksport Sports Bar) then reported, which was picked up by Mawspurs who put it on SC's Front Page kinda proves that, indeed, some people do care what this guy has to say.

I agree with some of what you say, and I wouldn't put him anywhere near any world 11. I also don't find much of what he has to say of any interest at all and I'm sure a lot of ManU fans are agreeing with his comments on LVG? Not!
We're all entitled to our opinion though so some may disagree...

I think you should do some research before making such outrageous comments.

To be fair to the bloke, I used to work for a company that managed his website, social media, etc., and I met him a number of times. He could easily have been completely indifferent, aloof or arrogant but he always made the effort to come over, shake my hand and ask how I was.

Yes, he's far less interesting now he doesn't play (Incidentally, has any player in the last 10 or so years genuinely loved playing for England as much as Beckham? I actually enjoyed watching them when he played) but I can't really fault him as a person. And he could cross a ball better than anyone in the world, just like Trippier now :)

Both Kane and Alli are huge Beckham fans and I'm sure recognition from him will boost their self esteem and may even transcend into better performances on the pitch.

He actually is a really nice guy. What you see is what you get with him

I agree with all of this, other than "probably the best of his generation". He was nowhere near.

No true football fan could hate Beckham imo. His passion and love for the game shone through every time he played, or spoke about football. Watch the last few minutes of his final game for PSG, he was crying his eyes out thinking about not playing again.

The only reason I could think for hating him would be pure jealousy, or being Greek

Yep. Great player with a great attitude. Certainly not the best player of his generation. I assume he was talking about English players, but I wouldn't put him in the same category as Scholes, King, Gerrard, or even Owen.

A trifle harsh I feel!
though I have to admit to not being Beckham's biggest fan initially myself. At one stage he seemed nothing more than an advert for hair products and rubbish tattoos - who could take a free kick in between bouts of blow drying!
However he gained my sympathy when he was so disgustingly vilified for getting sent off against Argentina. He was scapegoated and offered up as a figure of hate by a gleeful media - it felt like bullying on a grand scale, and made me a little ashamed to be English.
He was also a very good captain for England, always one of the hardest working players on the pitch, and I'll never forget how he ran around like a man possessed to single-handedly overcome Greece and ensure qualification for the 2002 finals.
I can also fully understand his excitement at the prospect of seeing Kane and Alli at the Euros - anyone who has watched Spurs this season knows that they have the belief, skill and the confidence to change the game in an instant. I may be permanently damaged with the manic delusions of a long suffering Spurs fan, but I believe if Roy Hodgson is brave, and doesn't fall back on the usual unspectacular but 'safe pair of hands' suspects, eg Milner, Llalana, David Batty, etc etc that perhaps, perhaps for the first time in ages England could do surprisingly well.
