David Beckham even managed to steal some of the limelight from Kaka as the England midfielder scored his first goal in Serie A as AC Milan beat Bologna 4-1 on Sunday.

Kaka, who snubbed Manchester City's big money approach last week, added two goals and was given a standing ovation by Milan's fans when he was taken off with 20 minutes remaining.

Kaka may find that the Milan fans will soon be campaigning for Beckham to stay after an impressive display capped by his first goal since joining on loan from LA Galaxy last month. On 60 minutes, he netted Milan's fourth goal, finishing off a slick move with a powerful shot after being put into space by Alexandre Pato.

Beckham is due to return to America on 9 March but said after the game: "To score my fist goal is great and I will keep this shirt, but the important thing is we won. I think we played well, even when they went down to 10 men, we still played our game.

"The future? We'll have to see. I want to enjoy my time with AC Milan, like I've always said. It's a fantastic experience and I'm having a great time."
But adding to the speculation that he is desperate to stay in Italy and show England coach Fabio Capello that he is still worth a part in his future plans is the news that he is learning Italian and even willing to take a drastic drop in wages.

Top-selling Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport had a front page headline in English on Sunday saying: "Beckham Forever."
Gazzetta also revealed that he was staying up until the early hours every day to brush up on his Italian verbs – not an easy task and had downloaded conversation classes on his ipod for away trips on the coach and plane.

Beckham's problem is that his deal with LA Galaxy – worth $200m over five years – ties him to LA Galaxy for five years. He can get out after three but that would not be until October when he would be almost 35 and unlikely to be offered a return to Italy.

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said: "He is a great player. At first we were criticised for taking on a doll but now there is regret that he is leaving in March."

-------------

As some will know, i fucking love Beckham and it's great to see him doing well at Milan. He'll end up staying there i'm sure. Keeps on proving people wrong on a regular basis. Apparently they love him up there.

If anyone has a link for the goal, i'd kiss them. Thanks.

Was a great goal from Becks today smashing it in from a tight angle. I thought Milan should have been his next move when he left Real. He has sadly wasted two valuable years of his career in LA. On a side note Kaka was immense for Milan today, thank god he didn't go to Citeh. And Pato is looking better and better every game he plays.

with players like maldini, pirlo, seedorf et al around him apart from the brazilians who show him respect, he would be mad to go back to donovan who thinks he should be mr galaxy.

i hope he stays in milan, this is about the only team that i can see stopping barcelona next season once pato, dinho and kaka have more cohesion.

It does make him look better with the world class pllayers around him, but we all know what Becks can do.

He continues to prove doubters wrong, and I'm well happy he is doing it in Milan. Hope he stays there, but thats selfishly because I want him in the England squad for the next world cup.

Come on in the last ten mins, score the winning free kick in the cup final - now that would be how to bow out of football ;-)

It will be good for the other Milan players to play with Beckham, they will learn a great deal from training/playing with him.

I said when he moved to Milan that they are the perfect club for Beckham. They have a great way of treating their older players, and the Italian game suits the technical side of Beckhams game. He plays in a more central area now aswell, and i think it really suits him now. A midfield three of Ambrosini, Pirlo and Beckham is top class, and with Ronaldinho and Kaka on the wings and Pato through the middle, they might even stand a chance at winning Serie A ahead of their rivals this season.

I cant see any reason why Beckham will want to leave Milan in march. America will never take to football, its a pointless mission. They love their own sports with high scoring. Beckham wont change that. He belongs on the big stage with a massive club like AC Milan, and its the fashion capital too. Its the perfect club for him. The only trouble could be his kids. They've already had to learn speaky spanglish and the thought of having them learn italian too might put him off. But in pure football terms, Milan i the best place for him i think.

Milan arent anywhere near as good as any of the English clubs in the cl this year. You're very anti Prem.

I hope he can stay there, he deserves to be playing for a proper club. And glad Kaka hasn't done one too!

Yes you are wrong. IMO.

Man United are the best team in the world. I think Barca would struggle to beat man utd, and prob even Chelsea.

And i agree with Kendall, Milan would find it hard against all four CL teams this year, and i would include Villa aswell.

I really like Beckham but i think you got the wrong idea about Milan with players like Maldini, Nesta, Pirlo, Gattuso, Ronaldinho, Seedorf, Ambrosini, Inzaghi etc. etc. There ain't a team in Europe that has as much experince as Milan and i really don't think they can learn anything from Beckham......and the younger players already had loads of experience and knowledge around them.

But as you i like to see him play there anyway

People thought Man Utd would run through Milan a couple of season ago in the CL. But Milan have a way of bossing teams in Europe and play at their own pace. So i think its a bit premature to say that they cant hang with the Premier League teams in the CL. They outplayed Liverpool when they made that remarkeable comeback and should never have lost. Then they dominated them again in the return match 2 seasons ago. Milan are the best and most successful club in European competitions, and just because they're not in the CL this season, doesn't make them less capable of destroying the Premier League teams again. They were very poor against Pompey in the UEFA Cup and looked to have underestimated them. But they still hit the woodwork a few times and made a great comeback to win. With Ronaldinho and now Beckham, they are stronger than the Champions League winning team of 2 seasons ago.

Apparently Becks has jsut scored a cracking free kick for Milan, in front of Capello.

The guy sure knows how to raise his game.

Probably the richest, most famous footballer the planet has ever seen, and he still gets up and fights every day for his place in what ever team he is in.

People might not like him, people might not think he is good, but not a single person can deny that his desire is beyond those who are not even a tenth as famous as him (like many of our players).

A true legend in every sense of the word.
