I hope so.

La Liga now has Kaka, Messi, Ronaldo, Etoo, Xavi, Iniesta.

Can we still call the premiership the best league in the world with those boys plying their trade in spain? The balance of power is shifting again.

I hope this will soon end the fascination with the British game with players snubbing the big money here to play over there.

The Premiership has Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Based on this alone, it's the best league in the World!

Yeah but the premiership has Defoe, Keane, Pavyluchenko, Bent, Lennon, Modric, Jenas, Palacios, Zokora, Bale, Jamie H, Ekotto, Woodgate, King, Dawson, Corluka, Chimbonda, Hutton, Gomes, Cudicini AND Bostock.

We win.

I was thinking the same regarding Spain regaining dominance. I think it can depend on the management of the clubs. Real Madrid now have an amazing squad but if they keep switching managers it won't help them to become dominant again.

With Mourinho at the helm for Inter Milan we might see a more multi-national CL semi finals than we have in the last few years.

To bring some unbiasedness into the thread, I think the Premier League is still the best league in the world because of the quality throughout the clubs in it. Spain may very well have the best two clubs in the world now, but I think the Premier League has a better high level consistency about its quality of clubs than any other league.

I think its a shame that there is such a gap opening up between Barca and Real Madrid to the rest of the League. Being a fan of Barca i'd obviously like them to win, but i'd like to see the likes of Athletico Madrid and Sevilla close the gap. But i dont think theres a lot in it. Spanish football tends to have the more technical football where English football is more pace and power. Both are exciting Leagues and i'm just glad i can follow both. It would be nice to see Serie A return to its glory days aswell though, and on uk tv again. Those 3 Leagues have always offered something different while all remaining exciting to watch.

I still think the English league is stronger, but Barca are the best current team in the world, and Real could be up there, but the collective TV rights in England mean that the lower teams have a lot more resources, and better squads compared to their Spanish counterparts

It changes nothing in the grand scheme of things though does it.

The Premiership will still be the most competitive league in the world. One player leaving us does not change that.

It won't change the balance in Spain either cos it's mainly always between Real and Barca anyway.

What he said

In terms of the best players, or strongest teams..the award may go to Spain, but in terms of strength across the board, we will still be there for a long time indeed

One thing you can be sure of is that expectations at the Bernabeu will be raised to new levels of insanity. One can only hope for Pellegrini's sake that he realises what he's let himself in for. Just imagine if they manage to lose to Valladolid or Xerez in their first game of the season!

Thats more than possible unless they start spending their cash on some top quality defenders.

Will be interesting, people say there is only Real and Barca but Spain has about 4-5 very good teams apart from the top 2. I think that Sevilla, Atletico, Villarreal and Valencia are all very good to watch going forward. Maybe Valencia's team will be sold off but that's more to do with off-the-field issues.

However I think all of the top 4 in England are better than the top 6 in Spain barring Barca, who know's how this Madrid team will play. Can't really judge them yet, on paper they look good but we'll see.

Below the top 4 in England though needs improving, Everton are solid but I hate watching them. Villa are decent but can't last the pace and have lost Barry. Maybe us or Citeh can step up but that also remains to be seen.

I think the leagues are pretty even to be honest. Both have pros and cons but the Premiership is still strong despite losing Ronaldo. Would be good to see Serie A make a comeback though. It would also be good to see a Dutch or German team make a CL semi but I doubt that will happen this season. For football in general I think it is better for the CL not to be dominated by 1 nation.

We havent even seen this Madrid team play yet, and none of the English teams have made their moves in the market yet. Lets see how the summer unfolds, eh? Anyway, its not the Premiership dominance, its the big 4 dominance, its not like any one else has made any waves in Europe.
