Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner believes he will be better than Sweden star Zlatan Ibrahimovic within three years.

The 21-year-old Denmark international is still yet to establish himself as a regular starter at Arsenal, but he is convinced that he will have a breakthrough year next season.

And, ahead of his country’s World Cup qualifier against Sweden on Saturday, he has revealed that he plans to outshine the Inter striker in the coming years.

“In about three years, I will be better than Zlatan,” he told BT.

“He is older than me and has now reached his peak as the top scorer in Serie A, but I have a plan, I believe in it and I am ready.

“Next season, I can finally make my breakthrough and then I still have two years to become better than Zlatan – and I will.

“By then I will be close to my peak and will be able to look upon myself as one of the world’s greatest strikers.”

Not short of confidence is he, even when his own fans groan when he comes on the pitch and he gets booed every time he misses an absolute sitter which is fairly often.

I think he will become a pretty good striker in the Premiership, he has the natural tools to do it. But I'm not sure he has anywhere near the ability to be one of the greatest strikers in the world or better than Ibra.

I remember listening to Five Live after the Woolwich Pompey game when Bender scored twice and loads of Goons were ringing in saying this proves he will be a top player. Then i saw the goals, first one was a howler from David James and the second was a penalty. I don't rate him and I can't even compare him to Ibra as he in a different galaxy of class compared to Bender

He's not as bad as his idiotic comments make you want to think. He scores goals, is good in the air and has a good shot. In my one and only, hopefully, visit to the Deadmirates (just made that up on the spot bit shit I know) in the Arsenal end, he scored a very good goal against Kyiv. On a serious note, I actually think Bendtner would be exactly the type of player we need. He doesn't shine at Arsenal because of the other players around him but for a big lad his touch is very good, he's unselfish, works hard, good team ethic, chips in goals and would be a great foil for people like Defoe & Keane. Shame there is no chance of nicking him off the goons.

I believe Arsene Wenger said last year that he would be a world class striker and I suspect Bendtner believes him.

He should be able to start for most non top 6 PL clubs, but he keeps coming out with ridiculous statements that make him look a lot worse than he actually is. Then whenever he misses a sitter, everyone lols and hits replay.

Ars*nal make tons of chances but he seems to miss most of them (ok, not actually worse than Adebayor in this regard) though he does plenty of work off the ball and is good in the air, which makes up for it. He'd be great for us, but he has nowhere near Ibra's ability, much less the top top strikers in the world (I'm sure Torres is pissing himself laughing somewhere).
