Benny's right to mention Villa. Imagine if they kept all their stars they could've had one heck of a team (barring the defence).

Hutton---Dunne-Collins----Warnock

Downing---Barry--Milner----Young

--------Bent-- Agbonlahor---------

Yep, this is the first real poor showing from Benny in the press IMO.

yes, he is frank and doesn't mince his words and that's what we love him for, but this looks like a thinly veiled dig at the club in order to extort money.

I didn't see it as that at all. He's just saying that when an offer comes in you have a chat with the club and ask them to match the wages. He's already said that he didn't pursue the interest from France so you can't really say he's putting pressure on the club.

His knowledge of the game doesn't exactly match Harrys quote about him 'not knowing who we are playing each week' does it?

I just don't know what many of us are thinking. There's a Chinese proverb that goes like this: You want a good steed and yet you want no grass it eats.
I like what Benny is saying as it is all honest, unlike the nauseating situation Modric created.

Fucking hell, he writes well!
In fairness, having been a sports journalist for 10 years, working for the same group that used to publish the Standard, players don't write their own column. I've done columns with a number of managers, players and former players in football, rugby and cricket, and the format is almost always that you ring the individual up, ask him various questions write down his responses, ask if there's anything else he wants to add, then write a close approximation of what he said, in a more readable journalistic style, befitting the format.
