I never rated the guy before this season but he has really been tremendous of late. Left back is no longer a problem in my opinion.

He was good today indeed. He needs a song. Assou-Ekotto scans nicely with "Copacabana", but someone with some talent and wit will need to think of some words...

He's quality. Fast developing in to one of the best left-backs in the league. I think next season will be his year.

Is that name a tribute to the living legend Disco Kenny of Cambridge?

Serious player.

And so is Benoit of course.

Another great performance by BAE today.A bit like the KING in that he always seems to be so laid back and lets very little get to him, a great trait to have in a defender IMO, and an unusual trait to have in a young player.

I can't remember who said it, but when he first joined he was being touted as the next Ashley Cole (back when he was better). We'll, it'd be a toughie to choose between them so far this season but once you add in the twatness and hairstyle factors it's have to be Benny all the way for me.

Lovin' the lyrics Bomber. You wanna be careful though mate, you're fast developing a reputation for being not only the sick minded, twisted and perverted individual we all know and love but also a rather talented songwriter. It's funny though, that with such similar qualities, how comes we've never seen you and Gary Barlow in the same room?

Is Disco Kenny still around? I seem to remember rumours of him passing away a few years ago. What a legend anyway, always used to see him with a half in his hand, usually up in Fifth Avenue.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto was unfairly critized when he first came to the club, typically by a majority who were not willing to let the man settle. The line was crossed when one so called supporter posted the game against Waford where BAE was exposed on the left (The clip actually showed the lack of support given) with no support what so ever because of the unbalanced set up of our team at the time without Edgar Davids.

He then unfortunately suffered a very bad injury and was not unble to settle during his first season in the EPL, ridiculed for his music taste and laid back attitude. BAE has now been given the confidence of the manager for which I'm vey happy for because he has the tools to be one of/ if not the best left back in the premiere. His now playing his natural game and has proved to be an excellent acquistion made by Comolie.

And he's not playing with an out and out left midfielder in front of him. If he could sort out some of passing he could be up there with Evra etc....still fairly young too.

he was superb today, and has been for the season.

shows that players need time to settle into a club to get to their full potential.

At his very, VERY, best BAE is better than Lee but as a steady week in week out performer Lee is hard to beat.

BAE always had the tools to be a top player he has just needed time to learn his trade and get used to the prem.

Like somebody else said, if he had a proper partner in front of him he could be as good as anybody in the league. Pace, strength, great tackler, good in the air, composed and has a blinding cross.

Let's hope he is settled now and doesn't want to go back to France!

Because two seasons ago Lee was a good deal better, and a few months ago you'd have had to say Benny was still inferior in several respects. (Why Ramos froze out Lee and insisted on playing Chimbo escapes me entirely, and probably escapes thousands of others too.) It's a measure of Benny's improvement since then that very, very few would claim that now. Considering that he'd had effectively 18 months out and was starting his EPL career from scratch, he's done remarkably well. He's got to be one of the half-dozen best LBs in the league now.

Should we have a new SC award for most improved player of the season?

Funny enough Lee has lost his RB position at BVB. He was brought in to replace Dede who had a horrific injury, but ended up in his natural position, but after his ridiculous challenge a few weeks ago, he's had a hard time breaking back in. So he's neither first choice LB or RB at Dortmund.
