He finally looks settled. In his first season he began slowly but got injured just as he was settling in. This season is the first season he has been consistently fit. He has been outstanding so far.

bae is also extremely fast and doesn't get enough credit for it and has very good dribbling but he must get sloppy passing out of his system

Must admit before october time when harry came in i nevet really rated bae, always found him bit too laid back & error prone. However i think since harry came in he is one of our most improved players in our team and is turning out to be one of best left backs on the league. Be interesting to see what happens in summer with him as remember Reading article on here taken from a French newspaper around the time harry had just come in saying at end of season he wanted to return to France & sign for psg if it was possible. Think it was because he had felt he had spent three years living in england & he now wanted to move back as was missing living in france. I wonder if that's still the case now. I hope not!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't BAE also mention in that piece he doesn't really like football, never watches it, and would prefer to listen to hip hop and generally act like a chav?

Makes you wonder how good he could be if he genuinely liked playing footy

yeah I'm pretty sure BAE said he wasn't that interested in footie, but then again, even Messi said he wasn't that interested either *shrug* He's improved and looked a solid professional this year, and he's still young so I now have high hopes for him :)

noticed a thread on him on redcafe, we better get him a contract extension soon or other clubs might start noticing him Eek

All BAE needed was time to settle into the EPL, his injury which kept him out for 18 months never helped his course, i remember having responded to SS57 in October where he stated how he missed YPLee, the thing is any player needs a consistent run of games to gel and acclimatise to a new league and team mates. WE at spurs write off players way too early, same with Jenas he needs the right midfielder next to him to get the best from him.

I have a vague memory of that and, yes, Leapy was one of our most undervalued players, IMO the best LB we've had since Chris Hughton (cynics might argue there wasn't a lot of competition). If you dig back to autumn 2006 you'll find posts of mine saying BAE has all the attributes to be a top-class LB, it's just that what you can get away with in France you can't get away with in England (or words to that effect).

Although it's a shame we let Lee go (and that he became a non-person under Ramos), I think Benny's now proved himself a more than worthy successor. If you're being very picky you can still find fault, but I'm pushed to think of a current EPL LB I'd swap him for.

Hi SS57, those were the exact words you used then. i always tend to agree with your sentiments on players and i was flabbergasted at that description of YPL, he always got turned inside out when a winger came at him, he would spin in circles and would lose the attacking player which invariably led to a goal, then the second most frustrating aspect to his game was when he would go flying down the left arrive at the goal area and pass the ball to the crowd. i never swear at spurs players but i found myself swearing YPL after a goal was conceded from the left.

whilst i never had the opportunity to see Chris Houghton play (80's games were not shown here in SA) i guess we like players for different reasons, For me Jenas is an excellent cm who has a few lapses like most other players and for others he should be sold at the earliest opportunity.

My five year old son calls him Mr Moss Head. When he watched MOTD on sunday morning he kept asking me why Mr Moss Head wasn't playing. I said he was and pointed him out with new corn row hair rstyle but my son wasn't having it and was adamant it was a different player.

I seem to remember BAE geting to this sort of standard just before his injury. Glad to see him back at his best and here's hoping he can keep on going. Best left back we've had for years

Because two seasons ago Lee was a good deal better, and a few months ago you'd have had to say Benny was still inferior in several respects. (Why Ramos froze out Lee and insisted on playing Chimbo escapes me entirely, and probably escapes thousands of others too.) It's a measure of Benny's improvement since then that very, very few would claim that now. Considering that he'd had effectively 18 months out and was starting his EPL career from scratch, he's done remarkably well. He's got to be one of the half-dozen best LBs in the league now.

Should we have a new SC award for most improved player of the season?
Lee offered absolute shit going forward. His crappy little step-overs and rubbish right-footed crosses agitated me no end. Kevin Davis, Ronaldo and Drogba are three names which come to mind that also tested his defensive frailties. though I do admit he was quite consistent.. Just not consistently good ;).

:rofl:Brilliant.

If only Remi Moses, the old United player was here now. He could be Mr Moses Moss Head.
