I disagree with that. I thought Bent was very very good. Got himself into some good positions, hit the target and worked Foster when he had the chance, chased and harried down the flanks and hounded their defenders. He really helped give United's defence the runaround.

Pavlyuchenko was a flop.

he had a great game. He did hoof the ball away a few times, but his job was to stop ronaldo playing and he did that very very well.

He was much better than evra, and ronaldo > lennon (clearly) so that shows how good he really was

bent had his first shot after about 85mins! Pav may have been shooting horribly but he got into positions for 3 or 4 good chances before bent had 1

Agreed with Bent comments, for once, I could praise a Bent performance without putting a BUT at the end. Worked his arse off and defended admirably from the front. Best in a Spurs shirt for all round performance...probably.

Clichey? do you mean Evra?

Evra is the best LB in the league, but BAE was miles better than him yesterday

Clichy, Cole, Evra and Assou Ekotto are the best left full backs in the prem by a clear mile.
Figueroa looks promising though.

They do, Evra and Clichey rarely get a game because of Abidal, which says a lot.

He's got a great name, he had a good game too. He's developing very quickly into an excellent left back. The defensive side of his game has progressed a lot and he has a very good left foot. Yes he made a few casual passes yesterday, but I have yet to see a player who never makes a mistake.

The commentators and the media in general don't seem to be quite so impressed.

Thought he had a good game as they all did (except Pav). But IF he is to be the answer at LB then he needs to be more consistent.

I seem to find, with the media and press, their opinions and judgements about Spurs seem to be based on 3rd hand information and reviews of games. I really don't listen to most of them anymore. The facts that some of these so called pundits come out with are so mind blowingly ludicrous, it is laughable.

In regards to his distribution, its just as much about players making themselves available for a pass, than the player passing. Its clear that we lack natural width on the left, so its difficult for him to find a pass. And we dont have a Berbatov to get the ball up to either. So where does he pass it? Into central midfield to put us in danger? To the centre backs where Tevez will look to put the defence under pressure? I think he did the sensible thing more often than not, and got rid of the danger.

I've liked the look of Bale in the last couple of games though. It could be a good time to play him on wednesday when we need to rest some players. With him in front of Ekotto, i'm sure his distribution will be better.

I agree with you 1 is was great yesterday. He had the most difficult job defensively (marking Ronaldo) and as others have pointed out had Modric in front of him (who was also excellent, maybe not defensively but he tried his hardest). People won't stop giving him a hard time though. I thought he was very good. I think he can get better with more support from the team, management and fans.

I also thought Lennon, Modric, Dawson were excellent.

Did well but let Ronaldo past him with ease just before end of normal time

Not good enough

The only problem I see with him is that he constantly lumps the ball forward aimlessly. I don't get why he does it because he has shown himself to be capable of neat passing play further up the pitch but in his own half he seems to panic and hoof it. It wouldn't be so bad if it went behind the opposition defence but it seems to drop straight to them, early in the game yesterday he did a crossfield hoof that went straight to either Ronaldo and Nani, was shocking but came after a really good interception from him. Bit hit n miss really.

Haha, name me a left back who contains Ronaldo completely for 120 minutes.

1 proper shot in TWO HOURS

Evra let Lennon get passed him 4 or 5 times before half time, I suppose he's not good enough either.

Some fans really do my head in.
