I think we can finally put to bed the doubts over how good our left back is now. He was my MOTM yesterday with a top class performance, despite having a lack of cover in front of him for much of the game. The only mistake he made was a woeful long sidewards ball in extra time. Other than that he didn't put a foot wrong. Showed great pace, composure and commitment. Really pleased with how he has progressed in what is essentially his first full season in England.

Only one request though. Bring back the fro!

Seconded, Still very young bound to make the odd error or misjudgement. But has all the raw materials to be top class.

Disagree.

He was absolutely woeful on the ball. Gave away possession routinely and looked half asleep at times. He did, however, keep Ronaldo very quiet so defensively he was sound. But felt on the whole, it was a nervy performance.

I had a completely differing view to a few other yids who watched the game yesterday, granted he kept Ronaldo quiet but Ronaldo didn't try and skin him too many times generally didn't fancy his chances on the outside from the off, that's his style these days.

He easily gave the ball away more than any, you watch a rerun of the game and the amount of times he hoofed it back to uniteds back four under little or no pressure, was driving me crazy! He definately contributed to our midfields tiredness throughout yesterday.

Certainly not MOTM

Played OK but not his best game. He was very poor distribution wise, giving the ball away too easily too often.

He was clearly instructed not to raid forward too much yesterday which is a bit of a shame, but definitely the best left back at the club at the moment.

Considering he had Modric, in a wandering role, ahead of him, BAE did a very good job defensively. His passing was still a bit suspect at times but it was still a great display and I'm beginning to warm to him and see him as a potential long term option rather than just the best of what we've got and a stop-gap until we can sign someone better. Our whole back 5 had a solid game and United had very few clear cut chances. We reproduced our home-game defensive form (only 9 conceeded in 13 games) rather than our away-game defensive form (23 conceeded in 13 games).

I thought he gave away possession very cheaply, it's amazing how we all watch the same match but see completely different things.

he reminds me of zokora alot with his distribution. its the one thing both of the lads let themselves down with. he did a great job defensively and made ronaldo sulk (not the first time our left back has done that to ronaldo because lee made him do it to) and theres not many that have kept ronaldo that quiet especially with no cover in front of him, i wouldnt have him as MOTM but was well happy with his performance and fair play to him his defending was v good which is what hes there for

I thought BAE was fantastic, after a nervy start, like the whole team, he settled well, and played brilliantly. Especially when you consider that Modric is infront of him, not offering the most cover in the world, even though I thought he offered more yesterday than he has. I'd love to see BAE play with Bale infront of him who will undoubtedly offer more cover allowing BAE to get forwards more, and Modric in the centre where he can do a bit more damage.

The guys infront of me and behind me had it in for Disco Benny, JJ, Bent & Gomes all through the game. I thought all 4 of them played well.....

Some people just have their own agenda, regardless of how the players are actually performing.

Typical Spurs fans. No doubt there would have been some around the ground doing exactly the same with Zokora.

Had a very good game just needs to watch the passing sometimes. Great turn of pace even in extra time.

The guy next to me spent the whole day telling Redknapp that Disco Benny was a useless **** and should get off the pitch, I dunno why these people go to high profile games just to slag people off, we're there to support! I thought he had a decent game in terms of tackling, but his distribution was woeful, which is a shame as it tainted him in my eyes

He had 2 stray passes all game. Less than a certain Paul Scholes. Even Ferdinand played a couple of laughable passes.

Agreed...Lennon MOM, BAE, KING, DAWSON, CORLUKA, JENAS, MODRIC, ZOKORA WAS VERY GOOD. Zok and Jenas did very well and BAE was left to keep Ronaldo quiet and he did. King was outstanding as was Daws.
Its was the two plonkers up front that was poor. Pav was very poor. Bent was not good bar 1-2 things.
If we had a keano and/or defoe, we would have been much better and more threatening.

He was brilliant defensively. Kept Ronaldo the "best" player in the world quiet most of the game. Only that shot hitting the post that I can think of really. The main threat was always going to come from Ronaldo and BAE did a terrific job on him.

Admit he didn't do well with his distribution but he aced his defensive duty...his primary job. I'm very happy with his overall contribution yesterday. And if he was half asleep like someone suggested then he's better than I thought!

He had an excellent game bar a 10 minute spell where he seemed to go into lunacy mode (see my ratings in the ratings thread). I am very happy we have started to get him playing somewhere near his potential.
