He has just scored against chelski - could he actually get the golden boot this year at sunderland?

we might be seeing why harry wanted jones if those two form a good parnership as it seems they are.. but i hopefully its a win-win move for both of us - we've a great balanced 4 up front and sunderland have someone to stick it in the net - as long as they dont finish above us of course...

why would zhirkov leave????

and selling Bent was not a mistake - he had 2 seasons with us and simply wasnt good enough. Defoe, Keane, Crouch and Pav are far better all round players than Bent.

Bent is a good player who lost hos confidence and the only way he could have found his way was to leave. No amount of hugging, kissing and compliments would have worked and its a real shame because I see those same traits in Bentley

I think this shows when a striker is sure he is starting and knows the manager has faith, it can really help a players confidence.

But still bent would never fit into spurs style of play

I don't think there was any question about Bent's ability to score goals.
It was all the other stuff, that many spurs fans didn't like.

Fair play to him, I always liked him.

Bent leaving Spurs is something i'll never regret. His goal scoring prowess is good, but every other aspect of his game is absolutely shocking.

Id rather judge Bent after he has a had a full season at Sunderland. Just because you start well, doesn't mean you will be banging them in all season, *cough* Zaki *cough*.

Im not bothered that we sold him.

Bent hasn't just started playing in England, he has a record as long as both of your arms in scoring at the top level for 2 clubs, often without having chances created for him. To mention him in the same breath as a player that repeatedly failed to uphold the barest standards of professionalism, shows really poor thinking on your part.

Bent will always score goals wherever he goes, I fancy 20+ for Sunderland and top English goalscorer. And not all of them are lucky deflections, I recall him converting from difficult angles quite a few times.

I would've liked to keep him since he's a great if not aesthetically pleasing option in away games, but he didn't suit our playing style much and probably wasn't that great for team spirit. He's a confidence player - as are our strikers - and will do well if shown some patience and support from the fans and the manager. Good luck to him esp against the goons, I'll be over the moon if we can recoup most of the 16.5m!
