Many young players think they have made it after one season! Get a grip- these youngsters earn more a week than many of us see in a year. Gready little bastrds. Yes we want to keep him but Spurs gave him the chance and he should offer some loyalty. Young players thinking money money money makes my blood boil

why do they feel the need to discuss this stuff in public?
No benefit to anyone except some opportunistic journalist....does my head in.

I don't mind him fighting for what he thinks he is worth. Go him. As long as he realistically acknowledges that no bigger club will give him a better squad position this season at a higher level.

he should take a leaf out of Kane's book. Only say good things in public, then (and it will happen) when a player goes thru a bad patch fans are less likely to turn against said player

To be honest, he is entirely justified in feeling aggrieved. His market value wage wise is over double what we are offering him. He's one of the most promising young central midfielders in Europe, not surprised Juve are monitoring this in the event of Pogba going.

Pay him what he's worth. Poor bloke has to train next to Dembele and Paulinho every day knowing with confidence they are on more than what he is asking for.

I know what it is like to negotiate a new contract. It took away very important PS4 gaming time from me. Stay strong Nabil. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

How much are our so called senior midfielders getting? You know, the ones who can't get in the side... How much is capoue on, for example? He's every right to ask for parity, he probably won't get it right now, but if he's keeping higher paid played out of the team, I can understand wanting more.

Quite rightly said; and I can only add that this seems to be the sort of situation that Spurs are sometimes guilty of poorly handling...rewarding those on the team who deserve it.

I can only assume that the answer is to combine an improved offer with a serious incentive for Bentaleb to kick-on and prove he's not a one-season wonder....

It doesn't matter if a player is long serving, fairly new or young. If that player is contributing on the field then they deserve to be rewarded. Clubs make a lot of money so they can afford financial incentivies the balance though has to be right between all elements of the club.

Doesn't bode well for the future to be honest.

Having said that, what do we actually know about it? Just seems odd that a young guy with 1.5 decent seasons under his belt who is a regular starter for a top club is making such a song and dance about it already.

Imagine the problems if/ when he becomes really good. or really bad.

He's a first team player, pay him the going rate. If we lose him over a few extra grand per week then whoever is negotiating this is an idiot. It's not like he's doing a Sterling and asking for 100k.

i think thats the point, we dont know what he or his agent is asking for but however much it is, i wish theyd keep it between themselves and the Club.
