Are you sure Bentley is better than SWP?

SWP has a final ball coupled with pace and strength on the ball. He is a great asset in attack. His main downfall might be his inability to defend (too light-weight and short) but he is a paradigm of a winger.

Assuming Bentley's final ball is about as good as SWP's, then SWP is a better player.

Your joking right, before the CC final I looked at SWP in comparesent with Lennon in statistics, in the guardian I belive. Lennon had 1% more accuracy in crossing, and was a more clinical finisher. SWP has acctually statistically a worse final ball then Lennon!

We know that SWP, when given the right number of games, would climb alot higher in the statistics table.

So I don't think your stats are good back-up.

SWP set the Prem alight back in his Man City days - he was a more influential player than Bentley is, with less assistance throughout the squad (hence less space).

Well go and support fucking Chelsea then mate coz you're talking out your arse.

£15M is a bit much for Bentley. He's a good player no doubt, but I'd say more in the £10M region at most. But it's all irrelevant 'cos Hughes is never going to sell him unless he demands a transfer. In which case we'd probably go after him and he'll end up in Newcastle

Can't really compare Bentley and Lennon. Completely different type of player. Rely on different attributes to do their respective jobs. Lennon's comparison is more SWP (skill and pace to burn) while Bentley's more like a Beckham type player (guile and passing). It all depends how Ramos wants to play and how much Levy is willing to pay, etc.

To dirtdave: I'd say Blackburn's got a left footed Bentley in MGP. Even though he's been poor this year he's a classy player. Not sure if he'd fit into Ramos' ethos?

I had the exact same thought after reading that. You couldnt see it Saturday, but Peterson is a true left winger. Maybe we can get a two-for-one deal for that 15 million.

Blackburn are 8th in the league for a reason. They are a decent team but will never challenge the top 4. Bentley and pederson aren't as effective as you might think. You can cross all the balls you like but why have we scored more goals than them? Crosses in to the air are overrated. Our style of attacking is much more effective- quick counter attacking football. Only united have scored more goals than us.

Not much else to choose from says it all when a 32 year old from a mikey mouse league is picked ahead of him. Not a total ****? How about abandoning the ENG under 21? When they needed him. A tosser

You said you didn't care about England...

..actually, you said "England are shite."

I think it'll be a massive mistake to replace a rough diamond such as Aaron Lennon with Bentley. Bentley has became the new English hope in the media who is clearly overrated IMO. I do agreed DB has good delivery but he hasn't got that thrust of danger when Aaron Lennon's on the ball, an on form Aaron Lennon is miles better IMO than an on form David Bentley.

Lennon can still improve his game therefor IMO has a few more gears left to improve. Bentley's playing to his peak and when people clock onto him he'll be so easy to mark just like Beckham. Lennon's game is going through change at the moment because he has about 4 players around him when his anywhere near the ball, which has highlighted a few weakness in his game which needs improving. I believe in time his delivery will iron out also when his goal scoring increases he will become invaluable.

We should definitely stick with Lennon, Bale has the skill sets to match Bentley on the left anyway.
