Ive seen the stories and quotes from Harry about how both want first team football and basically want a fresh start (perferably at another club) in January.

Now i was wondering, that over the xmas period we have alot of games in such a small time (3 in 10 days?)

Is this not the perfect time to actually use them, starting in the side and give them one last chance or one last goodbye before they part ways in January?

With our squad and that fact we seem to use:

A) Lennon in every game possible giving him a chance to rest a bit and reduce the risk of injury

B) Use 3 strikers every game, with the whole Defoe plus Keane (30 mins for Crouch) or the Defoe plus Crouch (Keane on for 20-25 mins for a midfielder)

Wouldn't this be the whole point of having a squad? Giving them at least 1 game over this hectic part of our schedule?

(Also using Bale, Hutton, Gio at some stage)

Thoughts?

Aslong as Harry uses the "squad" im not bothered, but i dont want to see the same core 13-14 players being used over the 10 days when we have decent replacements.

I dont want to see anyone in the first XI pick up injuries when we have players who can take their place while they rest up

It's a no from me. Not because they're leaving but because they've been poor more or less every time they have played for us.

No, because we have better players who will be more concerned about their level of performance for the club.

Nah. I'd prefer this time to use Giovani on the right or up front if needed.

Pavlyuchenko and Bentley haven't earned the right to do shit by all accounts.

I agree with your notion. atching United last night, Ferguson picks from a bank of players as he sees fit. He played Scholes and Gibson in midfield, leaving Fletcher (largely first choice) on the bench.

Ferguson does this well and does it in such a way that his players always seem to look fresh and sharp.

We stick to the same rigid formation and team every game and it is bound to crack at some point. Then what? put on a player for the last 20 mins who has had no time at all? that will get you nowhere.

I'm not knocking Harry, because we're all guilty of it in our 'team selection' threads, but I wish we were capable of having more freedom with selection.

Utd are great at squad rotation, maybe due to the whole mentality of players that runs through the club. Man City on the other hand barring suspensions and injuries have kept a very consistent team selection, in both EPL and CC and they have lost once this season.
'Arry obviously likes to play the same players, Hudd a prime example this season, but a key part of his job is changing it when a regular has a dip in form. Hopefully come January we will have more options in CM to allow him to do this with players like Hudd and Palacios.

No I pretty much agree with Kendall, I think one of my main problems with Redknapp is that it's so clear he has favourites. So no matter what the situation is, he's always bound to bring on Crouch instead of Pavlyuchenko, for example. I agree that Pavlyuchenko is pretty much certain to leave in January so at this point in time I'd rather see someone like Gio, who I hope has a future, but the point still stands.

I get the impression sometimes that Harry picks his players, then tries to fit those players into a system, rather than pick a system according to the opposition and then choose the players to make the system work in the best way possible with the players at our disposal.
