When I left spurs tonight- Bentley was being awarded Man of the Match - now I am not sure which match they meant but it cannot have been the one I had just watched.

Perhaps I am just biased now but I just don't like him - never a simple ball through always a couple of fancy flicks that come off 1 in 10 times

MOM for me was bale

1- Palacios
2- Bale
3- Modric
4- Hudd
5- Bentley

I like them all, and even Bale & Modric are my favourite players here ( including Keane ) but Palacios was MOTM IMO.

Palacios was so good today, his positioning was excellent, just sat in the hole ahead of the defenders and was really strict, tackling was brilliant also.

Bale MOTM for me though, definitely. Damn the guy takes players on with ease.

1. Modric
2. Bale
3. Crouch

IMO. Bentley was 1 of the worst performers! Although Daws was shocking.

I would have picked Modric but it was a remarkable performance by Bentley considering he's played so little first team football.
It was brave too in that he showed for the ball wasn't afraid to do some tricks(a couple failed spectacularly including a corner).
There can be dangers in believing ITK but I think his relationship with Harry has been difficult but he answered him in the best possible way and not with self pitying wimpery ala Darren Bent.
I hope if Bentley get's a chance again he'll show why we paid that transfer fee for hin.

Really well? He reminds me of beckham, just so static, every time he gets the ball it's like he's taking a free kick. I wish he'd keep momentum going and hit a moving ball.

Modric just edged Bale for MOTM, both were fantastic but Modrics'assist was great and he almost scored

The midfield two were brilliant. MOM though has to go to Bale.

I thought the only player who has a shocker was Defoe. He's not looking very sharp ATM.

There could be a simple reason like his mind has been on waiting for the coroners verdict into his brothers death which was heard yesterday i think...

Well, he wasnt as bad as you put him out to be, but he wasnt brilliant as well. Like I said in a previous thread, a lot of people are giving Bentley praise, and yes, he did play better than his previous games, but if you really scrutinise his performance, its actually how poor he has become that makes an average performance considered good. His crossing was very average tonight, he didnt beat anyone, but still he put in a better performance than ever. MOM? Who's the joker who gave him the award?

The match showed once again that Bentley isn't a player who is going to contribute vast amounts for the whole 90 minutes but during the game he will create one or two excellent opportunities and take on enough outrageous individual attempts himself that he scores the odd one too.

Most games at this level are settled by one goal, so actually he is a very valuable individual. Compared to other midfielders he will still score plenty and set plenty up so you have to balance his inadequacies against that.

Of course, we'd rather have Lennon as he has several dimensions and throws so much pressure onto the opposition that they have to put two men on him and it means we 'own' a large portion of the field. Bentley doesn't do that, but it doesn't make him useless.

Bentley wasn't man of the match imo bale was but modric was a worthy winner, I thought bentley played very well tonight, he isn't lennon he has no pace to beat his man you can't expect him to play like lennon, give the guy a chance he hasn't started a game since october last year and he stepped up and did a good job!

Dawson played well, 2 errors which were possibly down to gomes not giving a shout.

He did well and we won, what more do you want? He's obviously is a bit ring rusty but that's bound to happen. Not everything came off but he worked hard, tracked back and used the ball intelligently, it's frustrating for us tho due to the weight of expectation as we know his class is sporadic. He needs a haircut tho, he's no Clarke Kent.

Bale was man of the match as he stayed behind at the end to milk the applause.

Are you serious? He must have got better than 90% of his passes where he aimed them. If anything it was Bale's that were going adrift or getting intercepted.

That's probably because Bentley's passes lacked any kind of incision. Bale beat his man a number of times and whipped crosses across the box with a lot of pace and as such were always going to comprimise on control and rely more on the movement of the strikers. The majority of Bentley's passes were sideways or backwards. It's like we had David Batty on the wing. Very disappointing.
