He took his goal well..he was composed and skillful on the ball..he had a decent game..but i can recall only two of his corners getting passed the first man..one in first half that woodgate got on target and another for king...but he must have had 8or9..also his free kicks albeit one that grazed the top of the net, didnt get far...surely its a simple task to just get it in the mixer!?!?!

I couldn't find anywhere to watch the match on Monday, so I can't compare... but he was shit today.

Took the goal well, but having a good view of him in the second half he was poor. It is clear that Balague's recent comments (regarding his lack of a full preseason and therefore fitness) may have had an element of truth, and that his fitness needs improving.

During the second half he failed to penetrate with his runs and regularly looked disinterested, I think though, once he is fully fit, his running and striking of the ball will be improved, as his concentration levels should also increase...

Well taken goal, but he should really have been taken off, rather than Lennon.

Also, I do love our Gomes, but some of his kicking was awful today!

Bentley was absolutely pathetically appallingly abysmal tonight. He hasn't been very good at all for us yet. He definitely needs to be dropped. On the contrary, I think Lennon has been our best player so far this season, so it's a pretty easy choice for me for who to start on the right wing.

football is a wonderful game - so many people watch and almost everyone see's something different - Lennon our best player - stop it - he could'nt deliver a ball if got to use DHL - shocking delivery - lovely build up - no end product - another reason why we are not looking good right now

I didn't see tonight's game, but I've been appalled at Bentley's delivery in every game so far. Bearing in mind that that's the one thing you'd think he'd guarantee, his free-kicks, corners and crossing has been very poor. He overhits or underhits pretty much everything.

I dont understand why Bale does not take set pieces and free kicks - far better and more dangerous then Bentley if you ask me.

i think people look into corners too much. How many goals do you reakon are scored in the PL frome every team from a corner (as in crossed in the headed etc not scored from the corner corner .......)

Bet its not many. It owuld be nice for the ball to land in the middle though i must admit. We may have to start having someone on the other corner flag to have a second attempt at crossing in?

bentley is quality though! i just wanna add that.

Bale usually takes angled one instead of level with goal ones.

It might sound a bit stupid or maybe even clutching at straws but after the match I checked out our pitch dimensions against those at Ewood Park and White Hart Lane's pitch is 3 metres slimmer. Now I know it shouldn't count for a lot, but if you watch the majority of his crossing tonight he was hitting balls that were either too hard or too high, and if you took the extra width into account he'd have been hitting almost dead centre on Blackburn's pitch.

Surely it's got to count for something if week after week you're instinctively hitting crosses into the box at one distance then you have to alter that? Meh, I dunno, but I think after a few games he'll be getting more and more accurate.

Reasonable?

Our pitch is narrower than Ewood's? Scandalous! Levy out!

Good point, though.

But, yes, he's obviously shit.

At first I thought, hmm fair point, yes reasonable..

But its a pretty stupid excuse for his poor crossing if you ask me - is your post a joke? No disrespect, a very well researched and thought out reply to the article, but it bears no justification for his poor delivery.

Its like saying his right foot had programmed into it a certain level of power and elevation that would always deliver the ball perfectly into the box and this programming means his delivery at WHL is a little bit too high and long - pretty stupid when you come to think about it isnt it.

Players deliver from all over the pitch, so obviously he needs to adjust how hard and how much whip he puts on the ball, furthermore if you play football - you will know the position you are in will depend how hard you hit the ball towards your destination.

These guys are getting paid millions of pounds a year, I think its fair to ask them to be able to decide in the given scenario just how hard or soft they should be kicking a football.

Many of his deliveries have failed to even surpass the first man, so yeah...swiftly moving on..

Dreadful. He made Michael Carricks dead ball delivery look like David Beckhams.

And his delivery from open play... and just everything he did, really. He was shit today.

True that. I think he may be trying too hard. Like with the PR stuff. Needs to clear his head. Or just get into regular footy so he forgets to think too much.

True again.

Also, true. This is a disconcertingly accurate and right on thread in Spurs Chat directly after a game. Something wrong this way came.

I dont understand why Bale does not take set pieces and free kicks - far better and more dangerous then Bentley if you ask me.

Again. Agree. Please, for my sake. Stop now. I'll gold it if we just stop.

Ah, that's better.

Mate, loads of goals are scored from corners. Especially against us. This season already the Boro goal came from the wing after a corner was cleared, and Chelsea's too, of course. Out of a typical Premiership weekend, let's say 20-25 goals are scored. You can bet 2 at least will be resulting from corners. That's 10% in a game.

We have King, Woodgate, Corluka, Pavlyuchenko, Bent, and Jenas who are all excellent in the air and you would expect at least 4 of those 6 to be in the box for every corner we take. I can't remember us being able to divert an effort from a corner on goal yet, though. That's truly shocking.

Dead ball kicks win tight games.

Ergo, if ours a shit, we won't win games.

*Checks league table*

Much becomes clear, yeah?

Not all crosses have to be swung in at 80 mph. Just need to be accurate then this leave a chance for the striker to reach it before the keeper

He fancies himself as a bit of a David Beckham, and looks like he's trying to hard with his crossing. There was one very good cross he made from the right in the first half which shows what he's going to be capable of once he's settled.

Plus he's the most likely of our midfield to get on the scoresheet regularly.
