Uniteds transfer dealings have fell way off. You only have to look at all the money they got for Ronaldo and how little of it they've reinvested in the squad. Valencia to replace Ronaldo and Chicharito to replace Tevez lol there's got to be something going on with their money when they're replacing world class CL winning talent with decent young players.

Yeah, they can make as much noise as they like about having £160m to spunk as they please but I smell a rat. Fergie has never had a problem shelling out £30m for a player-now, he won't shut up about the lack of value in the transfer market.

The signing of Bebe and Smalling was off-the-wall stuff.

Sorry to belabour the point but the filth up the road have a bigger turnover and profit than us but less spending power in the transfer market due to the debt for their stadium. Manure have now joined them in that category of big stadium, big revenues, big wage bill, big debt, no transfer kitty.

No they don't. I don't know where you get that from?? Arsenal spent about £85m a year on players over the last five years, whereas we spent £70m p/a that means in the last five years they've spent £60m more than us on players.

And that's with the debt on their stadium, now it's cleared they'll start to fly.

On the other hand Utd spend £109m p/a on players that's £50m more than us each and every year - and you think we can compete in a bidding war ?

Anyway, it doesn't matter, but people in general would have far more realistic expectations with a better grasp of our size and status in the the real world.

Benzema would be a fanastic signing. Hopefully VDV will have a word and tell him how easy it is to score in the PL :-D

Not sure VdV would have a word, but having him in the squad definitely makes us a more attractive destination for sure.

I think he will be beyond our reach even if he is on our radar.

He may not be first choice for Real but it seems Jose see's him as having a role to play (I doubt very much he would bother changing his forward options in Jan window anyway)

Even if he were to be made availble I suspect he would not want to come to us and also there would be bigger fish fighting to sign him.

Chances of us signing him are slim, chances of us doing so in Jan are even slimmer.
