Sorry, didn't mean to come across as having a go, I was agreeing with what you say. And I don't think that there's any doubt that the crowd play a large part in that.

Darren Bent had to be Berbatov when Berbatov was on form - that was where the bar was set. And when he obviously didn't hit the ground at full pelt and meet that level, he was on a hiding to nothing.

I hate this season already. I've also decided I dislike some of our fans (and I'm really not talking about you here Ledge - and there's no trademark Stoofcasm attached with that, I honestly don't mean you!) too.

I dont understand this, why?

If there is any 1 group that isn't to blame it is the fans, we might have a moan etc but deep down we all love the club and want it to win.

I actually banned myself from this site 3 or 4 weeks ago because I felt that i was annoying people with my opinions and it was never my intention to do that. But like all fans I say it as I genuinely see it, I said back then and I have to say if anything my resolve has hardened, we are in real trouble, Jol has lost all control of the ship and in my opinion doesn't have the tools to steady it again. But worse for me is the fact that I started to believe 3 or 4 weeks back that he was using the fans for his own gain with the board and was schmoozing us with lame excuses and almost patronising explanations as to what was going on on the pitch. In short I felt and still feel that he was taking us for idiots.

Having said that I am not as some might believe anti Jol and I respect what he has done for the club, but all fairytales come to an end and this one is in danger of ending in tragedy.

If he was to go now he can still walk out of the gates with his head held high and will always be a Tottenham hero, much longer in charge and I think he will be chased out the door by the very people that he believes love him, the fans, and that would be a tragedy!

The booing of Defoe getting subbed was disgraceful - at the Middlesbrough cup game. And I was thoroughly embarrassed to be standing next to my fellow Spurs fan. I'm so glad Keane changed the game and set up the goals - it showed that those subs were spot on for that time.

That's the main source of it. Not the moaners and the groaners, they can be dosed with a bit of Stoof optimism and if they don't like it they can swivel.

Jeepers.....have been in US since Sunday and just popped in to see what's happening! Sounds like all hell let loose last night in the Berbs dept. Sounds like he was impersonating a toddler last night throwing all his toys out of the pram. Am I right??

IMO Since the start of the season he hasn't looked liked the player he was last year. Now he's grumpy with our situation...but he hasn't helped contribute to getting us out of it! He has played a part in getting us to where we are now. If he doesn't like others trying to get us out of the situation, then I wouldn't be bothered to see him go. We have enough negative attitude without him about.

The commentator said it well: "You can just tell by looking at his body language that he's thinking, you've made a mess of this... and now you want me to come on and clean it up" Look, the mans fed up and we all know what colour shirt he'll be sporting by round 1 '08.

Tell him to play well so we can sell him to Manyoo ASAP. Not hard to reach a consensus on that, surely? We're not going to get some MASSIVE manager which would ensure he stays, so I'll rather rob some club of their dough then have a moody, locker-room sapping striker on our hands.

Spurs should sell Berbatov in Jan and get a creative attacking mid fielders i.e Elano, Fabragas,Deco type player also another left winger, and a new back 5. (why Jol doesnt play Jenas Huddlestone Zokora in a three, suggests he doesnt really trust them or his clueless)

We should buy experience players and keep Keane Bent and Defoe sweet, with one coming through the reserves.

I was making noises about Berbatov not bothering his arse to get out of first gear for pretty much the whole time since the "Bolton performance" when he showed what he is truly capable of.

I got hammered from most quarters. Believe me, his form/attitude, call it what you will, should come as no surprise, he's been playing way below capacity for the majority of the time he's been with us.

One of the commentators said it.

yeah, Tim fucking Sherwood. How the fuck did he know? how the fuck could he see from where he was in the stadium? he was stuck in the middle tier trying to think of things to fill the next part of the show with. Instead of debating something about the players on the pitch or tactics he realised he doesn't know fuck all so spouted some tabloid shit. total bollocks! :bang:

how some of you can start moaning about berba's attitude when all you have is what Tim Sherwood said is beyond me. get a grip

mate, the point about him being asked 3 times to warm up came from a pitch side reporter.

in a week where we have 3 games, what is wrong with dropping/resting a player?

Exactly - The same Tim Sherwood who is very anti THFC. he didn't leave the club on good terms.

yea but Tim Sherwood was right in nearly all his comments about spurs. we need someone with his passion in the dressing room.

he knows what he is talking about and he knows what it takes - he has captained a side to prem title.

so if berby scores say 7 in the next 10 games and contributes to a few more and starts to look like he did at the end of last year..will he still be called a disgrace???

he had a night in the far north where he was benched and he seemed pissed off with that.. so what? he has shown that he gets better as the season progresses and WHEN he gets going again, who will be calling him a disgrace?

There just seems to be a little bit of narrow sightedness (!) going on here...one bad night (I know, I know - he hasnt played great yet this year, but he will) and all of a sudden he should be shipped off!?!?!

Oh bigger picture, wherefore art thou.....?

For me the bigger picture is if anyone less popular had reportedly refused to warm up people would be calling for their head. If Ghaly or Zokora had disobeyed the request of the manager people on here would have had a field day.

I love Berbatov, he is the greatest spurs player i've ever had the pleasure of watching, he pretty much has acheived hero status over the course of 1 season. However, just because he has more abaility than some of our other players does not mean he can do what ever he wants. The team needed him Monday night and if what the commentator said was true was does that say about how much he cares for us?

Never mind 7 goals in 10 games. If he (along with 90% of our players, granted) starts looking like he gives a monkeys butt about his team, and his club, and realises that the bench is something all players see from time to time, that'll be enough for me. He doesn't have to like being on the bench, just accept that it will happen from time to time.
He is a fantastic player, but talent isnt everything. Ask pretty much any scout or youth development coach anywhere in the world and they'll all say that hard work, the right mental attitude, and having the desire are all just as, if not more important than 'footballing talent'.

I hope that his attitude at the Newc game was a one off. Bad day, whatever. Thursday & Sunday's game may well tell us more.

What I get from the whole thing is that Jol has lost the support of his players, regardless of what comes out in the press. On Monday night, they did not look like a team battling to save their boss' job, almost the opposite in fact.

It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't entirely Berbs fault. He certainly does not have a history of trouble making. Jol insists there in 'no problem' but when your player completely ignores your outstretched hand at the end of the game, there is clearly a problem. I just hope it's a temporary one.

Well done guys for bringing the thread back to my original point.
I like Berbatov, as we all do I expect and last year he was our best player. I am just really saddened by what I saw on Monday night and what I have seen of his overall contribution since the season started.
