Berbatov's comments...

The thing with Berbatov was that the more we asked of him the better he did. Hence it is no surprise that he's doing well at Man Utd - even though he is clearly not in form and probably still suffering from the mental anguish (well, whatever) of his shambolic transfer.

Oh, and I was going to move this to GF, but think the threadstarter was more concerned about how the comments relay to THFC, so it's fair enough, I suppose.

And in answer to that, I'd say that when you take into account his understandable excitement at joining a club and wanting to endear himself/justify his price tag, plus, his seeming difficulty with the quirks in the language, there's not much negativity towards Spurs really.

Also, can anyone really remember him doing many post-match interviews for us? Maybe we let him off as he felt uncomfortable. Something Fergie possibly won't. Who knows?

The first goal he scored last night was offside but at OT these are usually overlooked,
@ WHL/anywhere for us it would have been scratched.

The power of the Sky 4, sour grapes - Hell yeah, I still ain't got over the Mendes goal,
and all 3 Arsenal goals at Highbury 2006.

Of course he has to try harder at United, he isn't garanteed a spot, hes up against Rooney and Tevez, he has a midfield full of attacking talent.
Im sure most of us here have played football and have played with a bunch of shit players in 5 a side. I can say that i get mighty pissed off and tend to look like an uncompromising bastard.
He is just at the next level, he was by far the best player at Spurs, im sure he was well pissed off playing with half of our team week after week. Seeing some of our players pass im pretty sure i would be too lol

Actually, so was the second. Replays confirmed it. And, yes, the linesman was standing right in line so had a perfect view.
and you're right about them being overlooked at OT (unless you're the away side, of course).

Not quite sure what the point of this is. He improved as a player during his time with us and moved on to play at a higher level. Whether you want to accept that or not it is true. Knowing he is playing at a higher level he naturally has to put more effort in. It is the same in all walks of life, if someone gets a promotion to a higher level they generally have more demands, more responsibility and then in turn has to work harder.

At the end of the day he is a footballer, and a really good one at that, but he will only do what is asked of him. We should really move on and stop crying about it.

I loved him while he was here, hate it that he left, but as long as he does not explicitly slag off Spurs, which I don't think he did, I'm not going to look too deeply into an interview by someone who's first language is not English to see if there's something I can wind myself up over.

Yes, he#s a ****, but we've got enough to worry about as it is without focusing on ex players, ex managers etc.

still too lazy to come back from an offside position...twice! he got lucky with both goals. Too busy smoking a tab in the penalty box.

Even if Berbatov put in minimal effort whilst at Spurs, this proved 10 times more effective than having either Bent or Pavlychenko at 100%. Like him or not, he was a class act for us and his departure has massively highlighted his importance to our team.

I can live without Keane, but Berbatov's influence was massive in terms of goals, creativity and ability to hold the ball and bring others into the game. Unfortunately we now rely on Darren Bent and Rasiak mark two.

I must confess to feeling very hurt as he smirked as he said "there is nowhere to hide now like I could switch off for other clubs".

How can you go missing up front when your playing with players who are attacking non stop.

We don't know what it means to attack consistently.

i would take them both back tomorrow.but i think keanes influence was every bit as big as berbas.maybe bigger because he was the leader on and off the pitch(not saying hes a better player)...both class acts.

That's a bit harsh.

On Rasiak.........

Seriously, though, this flags up what I've been saying for months i.e. that if you took away Berbatov and Keane's goals last year, we would have been in a real relegation dogfight. So now they have been, and we are.

Though I still shout abuse at the tv whenever I see Berbatov on it.

To be fair to him he probably thought Jermaine Jenas goes missing for large proportions of the season so why can't I go missing for 10 minutes.

Watched the match last night it was depressing how good Berbatov and United were compared to us.

Surrounded by better players surely means you can hide more not less. At times for us the rest of the Spurs team hide behind Berbatov so it's an odd thing to say.

He did leave for the right reason but he left in rubbish way and now shows no remorse for the fans who adhored him during this terrible time. I would love to think he frets and feels guilty and wishes more than anythign that we turn it around but it's dawning on me that this man probably doesn't hink like this. I wonder how keane is feeling?
