Should we have pushed for Callum Wilson, Benteke or maybe even Lukaku as an alternative to Janssen, as the aforementioned 3 offer pace and power in abundance..

Wilson is just getting back from injury and Bournemouth were reportedly not interested in discussing a deal for less than £25m.

Benteke cost £27m and is on a high wage and the money being asked for Lukaku was ridiculous.

Were we going to spend £30m on a sub? I doubt it. A Dutch international and last season's top scorer in the league doesn't seem a terrible purchase. Especially as he appears to have the skillset required to be backup for Kane.

If only...

Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dembele, Modric; Bale, Alli, Eriksen; Kane
Sub Eriksen for Lamela, and you have a deal

(Eriksen's freekicking ability and creativity would become secondary to Lamela's defensive capabilities and workrate in that setup, IMO).

A clinical striker is what's missing, someone who has a higher conversion rate of chances and who has the vision to see when another player is in a better position than he is.

That's a slight at Kane right?

Well, it wasn't intended as one, but now you come to mention it, I think we can all recall instances of where he has taken a shot at goal rather than a simple pass to another player in a much better position. Hopefully as he gets more experience he will get better, after all he is still only 23 and in his 3rd season in the 1st X1.

I want: 1 worldy CM and 1 worldy AM

But...I am excited to see what we have in Winks, Edwards, Josh and others.

If I could have one player or position filled for this year, I would go for a Modric type player. This season I think we have enough in the Top 4 to get the goals. What we need is a Modric, Xavi, Kroos, Cesc...A player that will get the ball up the pitch to our goal threats.

Edit: I have always wondered why Éver Banega has never been looked at. Even in AVB days with our chase for Moutinho. He is Argentinian, plays a position we need and has been moved for a relatively great price when he has moved. I like him and think he is a steady influence and is just entering his prime.

a Top class creative CM (which i doubt we will ever buy because every top club wants one) & a Fast/Skillful #9

Wouldnt mind a real #10 that could dominate games but we have enough fill ins for now.

I honestly think Winks can be this for us. Given time and games, I fully believe he'll dominate the CM position for us. Can pick a pass, very neat footwork and bundles of energy also understands and thrives in our high press system.

Banega has serious attitude problems... a bit like Boufal, bundles of talent but a giant ass.
