I still think we're in with a big shout for the title, but if we sign Rio, they might as well give us the fucking thing now!

Another crock on big wages? King, Gallas, Rio, Dawson, Kaboul, Bassong. Do we need anymore just in case all six are injured simultaneously?

That really is gonna send out the right message Caulker.

We had two top quality centre backs with injury problems and had to sell one as the 25 man squad rule meant a lower quality but more fit option was needed. If Harry wants Rio then he shouldn't have sold Woodgate.

A no-deal for me.

Some people are mind boggling. Old and always injured. Arsenal have just bought 3 of them, we don't want to copy them.

I've got to agree with others here - King, Gallas & Ferdinand in a 25 man squad doesn't really work. Especially when we've already got Kaboul & Dawson. And Bassong. Saying that if Gallas were to move in the January window I wouldn't be against us signing Ferdinand as his replacement.

Would you swap Bassong for Rio Ferdinand.

I know I fucking would without any hesitation whatsoever.

If he was to come in then you would imagine it would be to take Gallas' spot as the experienced defender who may not be available every game.

Im sure Rio would still command a transfer fee, plus his wages would be higher than Gallas I reckon, and he is only 18 months younger and injured as much (if not more) than Willy G is.

So we may as well just keep Gallas.

Or keep Gallas, get rid of the shit Bassong and get Rio?

I'd prefer Rio, King, Gallas, Dawson and Kaboul over King, Gallas, Dawson, Kaboul and Bassong.

Do we need another old and injury prone defender? King, Gallas, Dawson, Kaboul and Bassong is a good enough choice of players until the likes of Caulker are ready to step up to first team football. The money that would be spent on Rio's wages could be put to better use, like paying the wages of a top class striker.

True, but he still would be an improvement.

King, Gallas and Rio are all injury prone but could be juggled so at least one is fit, but normally two. All 3 fit would be amazing.

Then we have Kaboul, Dawson and Caulker as the younger, more healthy players who'll be learning off the older lads and slowly taking their places.

You are right though, we need a striker first. But if we do go in for a centre back and Rio is available, it would probably be a good idea if someone younger and equally brilliant isn't an option. The money we'd save on a huge fee would equate to two years silly money in wages anyway. It makes more sense to go for the younger player yes, but that's not always an option until the right someone becomes available. I guess we'll have to wait and see where we're at when the time comes.

He's on 180k a week at United. He's not going to reduce that to 80k a week to play for Spurs.
