C'mon the Tigers!

they take points off Villa, it's a double whammy

finishes off villa's chance of 4th and puts pressure on the Hammers so they maybe can't do what they soooooooooooo want to do - lose to city on the last day

As I said in the other thread I think it would be better if Villa were in contention up to the City game, if they've something to fight for they might put it up to City more, rather than be thinking of their summer holidays.

Agree with this.

It's better for us if Villa have a sniff up to the City game.

Will they not still be fighting for a Europa Cup spot though, with Liverpool and Everton.

I just want as many teams out of the race for 4th as possible

absolutely disagree - want hull to win, but even a draw would be good

for the reasons I've stated

villa will still give it a go at City becuase it's likely they'll have a mathematical shot still at 4th and more importantly for them will want to get a europa spot

everton pushing on at 8th and pompey's uncertainty helps in that regard

also don't forget points mean prizes

it's roughly £500,000 a place

to a club like villa and most clubs (not city granted) that's a carrot worth nibbling at

Caught in two minds about this game, I want Hull to win and theoretically put Villa out of it, but then again I don't think they will catch us anyway, and I'd love for them to be up for it against City in a couple of weeks thinking that they could still get 4th.

I'm undecided. If Villa win, they would feel they still have an outside chance to claim 4th and will be determined to take something out of the City game.

If Hull win, thye get 3 points and really put the pressure on West Ham, who could find themselves fighting for survival in the last game of the season at home against City

We need Spam to beat Mancity last game, so we need Hull to be pushing them all the way.
C'mon Hull, a draw or a win will do, just bloody score

yes i did, and i agree it was unbelievable just how little fighting spirit they had in them, how little desire. But, come the last game, and at home i am sure they will be up for it.
Maybe they just didn't believe they could get anything out of the Liverpool game beforehand, had already written it off

I couldn't care less about this game. They're 3 points behind now, but we have a game in hand. It's effectively 4 points because we have a superior goal difference. They wont finish above us.

I'm not too bothered by this.

Our goal difference is so much better and I'm convinced it'll stay that way. With that in mind, Villa cannot finish above us if we beat Bolton (home) and Burnley (away). However, Villa wont see it like that, and now in their minds are making a very late push for 4th.

Villa's next game is Birmingham (home), and should they win, they'll have every reason to go all out for the win against Man City. Villa's away record is exceptional (won 9, drawn 5, lost 4), and I really fancy them to go there and take something. I've of the opinion that City will come away from the Arsenal game empty handed, and if they do, and Villa also take something against them, we really are in with a massive shot at 4th. The key, and I can't emphasise this enough, is to beat Bolton and Burnley. People are making a lot of noise about the two Manchester games, but the so called easier games will be the ones that ultimately define our season.

i think it was bad result for us - primarily because it eases the pressure on west ham

if they're safe on the last day of the season - and this result gives them a chance of being so, then you can write in 3 points for city there

the nightmare scenario for me is west ham losing heavily to City and hearing all the west ham fans laughing and singing 'we ****d your season up' except they won't be using asterisks

not only will they done us twice on the last day - they'll have the added enjoyment of Harry being our manager (and boy most of them don't like him these days)

so to me a definite setback tonight - the thought of '2006 - The Sequel' is something that is liable to keep me awake at nights if we don't keep at least one point ahead of city and the others throughout the next 3 games
