might not have been a dead cert but the whole world could see we couldnt break wolves down after 10mins. We waited far too long to bring him on. He's a nightmare and lets us go through teams easier.

Anyways, loads of IFs. We're doing well overall and got an uncharacteristic win today

I am a big Crouch fan but when he came on, we weren't much better precisely because our movement was clunky and slow. It is nothing more than conjecture to say 'we would have won with him' and even more so that we would have won the next two. Games do not occur in a bubble, I think the poor result and performance against Wolves led to two different but equally impressive performances thereafter.

Simply, Rednapp gave them a kick up the ass I think after Wolves.

Damn. I rate Hughes as a manager.

when hull got a point there - i predicted it would eventually be the end of hughes

mind you i thought he'd be gone in the summer - major mistake by city to keep him - helped us though :)

Maybe he is more of a spit and sawdust manager than one that can keep track of the citeh primadonna madness.

Strangely I thought today was one of Crouch's worst games for us recently despite the two goals. He didn't offer much at all other than three strikes (all of which went in). Also he seems to get pushed off the ball far too easily for me...

it's all about opinions matt - but when you put in 3 out of 3 away from home - (the one called offside was maginal - but crouch did his end of the bargain) surely you've answered your own doubts

it was a wonderful display by crouch today - he was one of tthe candidates for MOM - along with gomes daws & seb

Think that was only the home team's MOTM. Not sure who the commentators picked.

I used to hate this a few years back at WHL. Seemed to be under the Hoddle era, we'd be getting stuffed at home by Southampton or Fulham etc and we'd have some kind of ridiculous vote to se who our man of the match was. Made us look so small-time.

Anyway, those days are gone Thankfully, great win

going back to the wolves game - it's not just for his attacking prowess crouch should have started he'as also a lot more helpful defending set pieces than jd or robbie

we'll never know but had crouch started doyle may not have scored

then as we know it's a very different game

wolves had something to park the bus in front of after that goal - it gave them a massive boost

and of course our crowd etc etc - but i've said my piece (as have others) elsewhere on that

Was very happy with the result today as this was type of game in past we would have lost. Dawson, Bassong were brillant today, Gomes had a very good game too. It wasnt the best of performances however shows good signs that we didn't play well but still won!

Just saw the highlights on football first. Thought it was a good, hard working team performance from the lads today and a great 3 points .

Also good to see Allardyce having his usual whinge about the amount of money we've spent on our squad, i don't think the blokes ever given us credit for a good performance.

(Re Gio) 1. He's shown nothing in his time on the pitch to show that he deserves a place on the bench.

2. You have no idea how he applies himself in training.

1. You cannot be serious! As others have said already, he had 8 (eight) minutes on the pitch at the end of a match we were losing and when the team resorted to the "long balls to Crouch" desperation game, and consequently Gio had the ball only once or twice - and still showed good control of the ball and good movement on and off the ball.
You must be one of those who expect a match winning from someone like Gio in the late sub appearance and then announce that he has not done enough to warrant a place in the team, if he has not scored twice and/or made more than one goal.

2. Neither have you - so stop using this subservient, lazy cliche as an excuse when you just don't fancy a player.

Way up north in December in a snow storm against a Sam Allerdice side yep I'm with you Wsussex' I'd say that is the sort of game we'd have got nothing from so it really was a terrific result.

great result up north in a snow storm against prison football! Most of the team played ok with non really standing out. Funny i thought both hudd and palacios were very poor today? Hudd was prob our worst player today and also v city he's shooting and passing were awful again today. Hope jj gets the start next week.

You need to change where you get your stats from. You have mentioned 148 times since the Wolves game (mainly on the Front Page News) that Gio only had "8" minutes on the pitch.

If a player replaces another after 78 mins, he then surely has 12 mins on the field, if you then add to that there were 6 (SIX) minutes of injury time, you are well off with your rant.

But nothing new there.

Here are the stats, from earlier in this thread.

1. He's shown nothing in his time on the pitch to show that he deserves a place on the bench.

2. You have no idea how he applies himself in training.

How many minutes has he played this season? 119 according to here:

http://www.thfc6061sportstats.com/TottenhamHotspur2009-10MinutesPlayed.html

He played very well in his one 90 minute game. According to Redknapp, Gio was playing well and flying in training when he got injured in the cup. And then he got a couple of minutes as a late sub a fortnight ago.

Nicdic had no substantive point and neither do you.

He did nothing but moan about his lack of resources when at Bolton. When he did get the chance to play with the big boys at Newcastle, he was exposed as the village idiot we all knew him to be. This is also the same Sam Alladyce who thought he should have been England Manager.

It's a shame that his resources aren't as big as his ego.... TWAT
