No he didn't... nobody said he is useless because he is American. He was appointed despite not having the necessary experience to manage a club like Swansea and it was quite transparently a poor appointment from the beginning. His awful record there has validated that opinion.

He was appointed because he was American....which was really dumb.

He was snidely picked on by the media because he was American, I suggest you read this:

Harry Redknapp wants the Swansea job - and could bring John Terry with him

imagine that!! brilliant chaos

Swansea are not a great side, but they have enough quality in their squad to be doing far better than they are, they should be lower mid table...they are no worse in terms of personnel than Watford, Burnley, Middlesborough or Leicester. Wouldn't take a genius to get them doing better.

I think it was a terrible appointment, both for his very lacklustre CV, but also a completely tin-eared PR move to appoint an American at the time that the fans are very angry at the American takeover. My family live in Swansea so I go to a lot of games when I'm home, and this season the level of anger and frustration from the crowd at the new owners has been boiling over - I think even if Giggs didn't have the experience, at least as a Welshman he would have had the support of the fans, but Bradley was just a visible place for the fans to place their frustration at a local club being bought by international owners. They also completely messed up by not bringing Joe Allen back in the summer, he was ready to move and they quibbled over an extra 3M. They should have paid that rather than buy Borja, who is completely unsuited to the Premiership.

That said, Jenkins has done the right thing to sack him so early. Swansea have been noticeably worse since Bradley came in. They've got a weak ageing squad this year and the defence is poor without Williams, but it seemed like every game they had a new formation and players put in positions at random, and they looked confused and frustrated. Jay Fulton on the wing on Boxing Day was laughable, and I don't think I've ever seen a team look as hopeless as Swansea did against us at WHL, or the first half against Man Utd. At least now they've given themselves the chance to appoint someone who can rebuild, but I think with players like Britton and Rangel getting old, and Williams having left, they may need a bit of time in the Championship to rebuild, as the squad is really poor. Mawson at least looks like he could be a good future leader to build their team around.

Should never have got rid of Guidolin, sure they weren't winning at the time but there were signs of life in them at very least. The Swansea side that we faced recently can be summed up in one word - pathetic. Wigan had more fight in them when we were putting 9 past them.

I don't think I've ever seen a group or players looking so dejected and defeated in the middle of a match...

Honestly, their performance against us was actually nowhere near as bad as the first half against Man Utd. They'd obviously been told not to press, and the players just stood there whilst Ibrahimovic and Pogba walked past them. I don't think I've ever seen a poor performance that was so obviously the manager's fault.

I heard Jamie Carragher earlier saying there was no way "that man" - direct quote - could be given January transfer funds. I've never heard that kind of language applied to a British or European manager, no matter how clueless or incompetent. It's like Bradley's shortcomings were a moral failure.

I'd be quite interested to see how Redknapp would do there.

I don't want Swansea relegated though. They're virtually a guaranteed 6 points per season.

I think they should go for Chris Hughton.. has experience of been in a relegation fight.. if they go down (which I think they will.. no fight in that squad).. at least they will have a manager that knows the championship.. they go with the wrong appointment I could easily see them drop down into lg1 in a couple of years

Most Americans (who are interested) are delusional about the state of US football. They think Bradley was better than Jurgen, for example.

Is that a fact? Did you conduct a survey of Americans as it pertains to their feelings about the state of US football (or football in general)?

The only person I will feel sorry for if they get relegated this season is Gylfi.

Everyone else can jog straight to the championship for all I care.

Why would he go to them though. He's doing amazingly well with a growing club. They've been touching distance to the PL the last few years and look a dead cert to get promoted this year. I could easily see Swansea dropping down like a Bolton/Wigan over the next few years.

It's bad decision after bad decision at board level. The problems with the club are bigger than on the pitch.

The large majority of football fans in this country are very delusional and the press here are largely responsible for it.

Looks like it'll be Paul Clement, Bayern's #2.
