Here's a list of all the players who have left Spurs since 2012. Add Lennon and Holtby who are on loan. 29 were regular 1st teamers. Quite a few of these transfers I disagreed with at the time but with hindsight were good for the club.
Would only have Modric, Bale, Corluka and Siggy back. Still don't understand why Corluka had to go.

Pav
Kranjcar
Corluka
Alnwick
Pienaar
Bassong
Modric
Button
VDV
GDS
Cudicini
Jenas
Bostock
Bentley
Parrett
Gallas
Caulker
Dempsey
Huddlestone
Livermore
Parker
Luongo
Bale
Dawkins
Defoe
Smith
Gomes
Livermore
Gallifuoco
Sigurdsson
Falque
Dawson
Coulibaly
Obika
Fryers
Sandro
Naughton
BAE

I'd only have Modric and Bale back. That's quite an impressive record for identifying the deadwood in our squad. Not a Pogba among them.

Luongo is looking increasingly like we made a mistake letting him go.
He may be doing well for them in League one but there's still some way to go before we can start considering letting him go to have been a mistake

You have to factor all the other youngsters and established first teamers in his role before we let him go also

Then you have to consider whether his form in League one will be as good or better than what we have now performing in the EPL (It's a big step up in class)

If he goes on to be a star for a rival EPL team in the coming years then it can be classed as a mistake - but if he fails to progress beyond Championship or even lower EPL standard then it won't have been one, at worst it could be argued that we lost out on a higher fee for him as a higher level player but realistically unless he suddenly became pretty special he would have been unlikely to get a chance in our team to ever warrant such a fee

I think at this stage, and unless things change quite drastically in the coming years it can't be considered a mistake IMO - quite the opposite in fact, best things for all parties (not least the players own career)

Falque. Doing great things at Genoa. We ought to have kept him.
I've not seen anything of him

What do you mean by great things? GDS level of great things in the Spanish league or actual great things where by he looks like he'd be first team ready for us and performing better than some of our current players?

Well, maybe 'great things' is an exaggeration, he wouldn't be starting for us, but a very useful 2nd string player for certain

He has started 17 games in the league, scoring 6 for Genoa this season who are sitting 7th in Serie A (fallen quickly the last few weeks, they were sitting 3rd/ 4th for most of the first 1/2 of the season)

I would of course take Bale and Modric but it's not like they have bitten us in the ass we got good money. loved Charlie don't know why we sold him but haven't seen him play recently. Would have old Charlie but as someone else said don't know if he'd fit.

Lastly would still take Luongo back

We sold Charlie because he was slow, so very very slow. Would not fit at all with us now i don't think

Should've been kept as a CB.

I always wondered, with his size/strength & technique making up for his lack of pace, if he'd have fitted in as a defensive midfielder, just clogging up the middle and breaking up attacks.

I think there's a few that i'd have kept for another year but not many i'd take back now. VDV staying would've been grand, but time has passed, he's lost half a yard of pace (and was never the quickest anyway), so even if he had stayed i expect we would've moved him in the last window, if not before.

Isn't it funny, so many players that slip your mind, yet when we signed them were supposed to be absolute mustard.

Got a feeling that he did an interview not long after joining us where he said his best position was as a DM. Said he didnt like playing CB as he wasn't a fan of 'heading the ball' or something along those lines.
