Beterbiev looks a monster too, looks like he could be in that mix pretty soon.
He's still only a 7 fight novice though

Was very impressive in his fight on that card but he's probably got a fair way to go before he's thrown in with the top guys in the division

He's being fast tracked though due to being such an outstanding amatuer, talk of him vs Kovalev is already happening. Despatching Tavoris Cloud in 2 rounds was already a big statement that he can more than cut it in the pro's.

I'd be surprised if they threw him in at that level so soon

Plus Kovalev probably has others, namely Stevenson to fight first

Maybe the Russian rivalry would make it a big match domestically - although I don'r remember the last time Kovalev fought in Russia

I guess because Beterbiev has pedigree, is making noises already and the division is looking relatively weak outside of the top 2 guys now it's possible - but still I find it perplexing that his management would be looking to match him so soon up at that level when he's not had 10 pro fights. I can't think of anyone who fought for a title after so few fights regardless of their amature pedigree

Well I suppose De la hoya won it in 12 pro fights so it's not out of the question - could be a mistake for Beterbiev in my opinion though (no need to rush him when he can fight people in the top 10 first and make a bigger name for himself before tangling with either Stevenson or Kovalev)

Edit: I didn't realise Beterbiev was 30 - I suppose he does need to get a move on then

Apparently they were sparring partners in the Russia amatuer team and Kovalev was pretty much his bitch. So the rivalry is already there, and yeah its being talked about for after Stevenson, so we could be looking at 10 months away. Enough time for Beterbiev to take a fight or 2 in the meantime.

Mayweather v Pacquiao. Looking forward to it but I think it's still over hyped. 4 or 5 years too late. Complete contrast in styles, should go the distance IMO. I kind of want Floyd to win to preserve the unbeaten record before he retires next year though everyone seems to want Manny to win, didn't realise til the other day that he's lost 5 times over the years.

I want Manny to win but I have a feeling Floyd will nick it on points.

I'd think if it went the distance, Pac would be more odds on to win - he's got the style and ability to land half a dozen for every one that Mayweather does. If anyone's going to end it early though, i think Mayweather will come out of it happiest.

Floods always fought a bit boring safety first like per ell Whitaker though he's obviously better. Should win the fight fairly easily imo but then they have both deteriorated I'm hoping pacman can pull out a great performance though.

Must admit, the undercard looks very underwhelming for a fight like this, there's only two televised fights on the prior to the main event.

Land? Absolutely no chance of that happening. Pac will throw 6 times as many, but hes not landing 6 to 1 against the best defensive fighter of the last 20 years . . . Pac will land <20%, while ill bet floyd will land >45%

Slightly off topic but is there anyone out there who can challenge Golovkin? Would love to see him fight Cotto or someone but I guess the weights ain't right.

I think most want Pac to win. Floyd has made being the bad guy a big part of his selling point.

Mayweather will win though.

Floyd win (hopefully) his defense is awesome but will be interesting to see how he copes with Mannys speed, should be intriguing, cant call it tbh.

Cotto has the lineal belt at 160 but is ducking GGG. I dont blame him, GGG would kill him. Cotto will fight Canelo in september, likely the winner will face GGG. I could see Canelo lasting the distance against GGG, apparently he has looked good against him in sparring. Otherwise Ward or Froch would probably beat him at 168.

Slightly off topic, just watched an Andre Ward interview where he's talking up Paul Smith as a top level opponent . . . :poop:
