Sad to hear people being so hard on Joshua. Yes, he has fallen short but he's done his best to get to the top and not dodged fights.

Think people have issues with him as he’s quite clearly the media favourite due to some fantastic PR from his team. But it’s questionable if he deserves it.

Agreed. When someone comes up a weight class and schools the champ within 3 or 4 fights you have to question the divisions quality.

I thought the commentators were a little disrespectful to Usyk assuming he would tire after 7 or 8 rounds. Not like he hasn't gone 12 before. Maybe Joshua made the same mistake?

He’s clearly never really wanted to fight Fury and it’s become abundantly clear why.

He’ll now be rabid about fighting Fury as it’s the only way he can now redeem himself and his career.

Joshua is now a busted flush with no legitimacy at the very highest level anymore.

Thought he made it the type of fight Usyk wanted tonight. Usyk starting off quick and took the first few rounds fairly easily which probably surprised him and with Usyk always on the move, wonder if AJ was banking on him running out of gas towards the end and picking him off but it never happened. He was too one paced and so became much easier to read and actually felt Usyk took bit of a breather in the middle rounds to keep enough in the tank for the end.

After that Ruiz defeat, almost feels as though they've tried to reinvent him into more of slimmed down, technical boxer. He came into the sport late and think trying to fundamentally change the type of boxer he is at this stage is probably too late. Maybe was better off sticking to making his physical attributes a big advantage, especially in a fight like tonight's (surely would have seen Usyk struggle at times with Chisora's physicality in that fight) while focusing on improving his defence, decision making/ring IQ.

It’s literally been their job to hype up Frank Bruno MkII for years. It’s like they have a pre broadcast meeting and the briefing is just to hype him up and keep extracting as many undeserved pounds from casual boxing fans that know nothing about boxing and think he’s actually the great heavyweight they say he is. It’s the sky and Eddie Hearn formula to massively overhype fighters constantly

If I were Joshua, I'd be walking away from a rematch with Uysk. Last night showed that Uysk, who let's not forget laboured to a win against Chisora, found in Joshua an ideal match-up. He outboxed him all the way and Joshua had no real answer. AJ couldn't get close to unleash any of his trademark uppercuts. Imo, Joshua cut too much weight and power to try and stand toe to toe and box with such a complete fighter. If Joshua goes in for the rematch, the ONLY way he has a chance of winning is by reverting back to type, which means looking to impose size and strength and looking for bombs. I've never seen AJ as the true king of the HW division anyway, far too one-dimensional, too rigid, and relying on power as the only real tool that he has - just as well the Fury fight never happened, as Fury would have gone to school on him.

The biggest shock last night, wasn't even that Uysk won with ease - it was the fact that he could've taken Joshua out & finished it with a TKO. Almost like he was playing with AJ. I'd also add that in AJ's corner, McCracken wasn't really offering a solution and sounded more like he was getting Joshua to contain, Uysk - it sounded like that there was no real idea on how to deal with Uysk. Still, all said and done - a good fight, and Uysk is the boxer most thought and knew - an awesome display of real ring craft and skill!

Joshua needs to change trainer.

I think if he wants to continue at all then he needs to take the rematch and prepare for war rather than a tactical battle

Totally agree with both points - McCraken has rode his luck with AJ and a granite chinned Froch and I personally feel that AJ needs to look at shipping him out. The problem for AJ in any rematch is that he isn't prepared to go to war, he isn't a pressure fighter a la Fury, etc. I just don't see how he beats Uysk now. Last night was just stupid in a tactical sense, he tried to match up to Uysk, dropped far too much weight & generally just played Uysk's tune.

The thing with AJ is he doesn't have the boxing IQ that most top fighters have. But he did have a lot of physicality.

Then he bulked up too much and this time slimmed down too much.

I think he'd lose a rematch to Usyk. I suspect he might struggle in a match against Whyte as well.
