Well yeah if you let them dictate the game then you are in trouble. The key to beating both of those sides is imposing yourself on them, and we certainly have the players to do so. If we make the game about their front players v our back line I think we are on a hiding to nothing. Hopefully we will tray and make it about our forward players v their back lines which imo have vulnerabilities as has already been shown. There have been no outstanding defences this far in this world cup and I don't believe it's a winning formula like it is has been in the past for teams like Italy or Germany.
I agree that we have options up front in many areas of our attacking line who could scare them and other really top teams.

We cannot afford to sit too deep and try to soak up too much pressure because based on what I've seen our defence wouldn't cope with sustained pressure against a real top team.

Southgate has to break the habit of a lifetime to win this game and go further, we can't go 1 up and then panic on what to do next and just sit back and invite pressure in the hope that the opposition won't make the breakthrough, that was exactly what was our undoing was in the 2018 Semi Final against Croatia, and in the Euro finals against Italy in 2021.

As I say, I agree with you in that we have a chance, but we must be brave...we shall see.
