The forward play will be the last thing to click in this new approach. It’s clear that we are going to offer up plenty of chances from out wide. That will stop to an extent as we get more practice in the formation. Forwards need to learn to move and rotate to create space. That’s hard against a well organised Brentford who have plenty behind the ball. I’m sure it will come though

That was exactly what we should have expected from a half where: we have a new manager, new system, multiple debuts, lose our main CB early. Plenty to work on but plenty of positives.
We’ve played without much contribution from our front three and Skipp really. So plenty of room to improve.
Love it 💯 mate.

reminds me of when Ozzie was manager, it doesn't matter if they score 4 we'll score 5 lol its going be a roller coaster of a season but i'd rather that than what we have been watching for the last few seasons.

For those saying Ange needs to rip them one at HT. Personally at this stage I think it would be counterproductive. Ange needs to reaffirm what he wants from them but having a go may just go the other way.
I heard him scream ‘quicker!’ Earlier. I think the play is a little ponderous. Perhaps because of the way Brentford are set up but it’s very frustrating at the moment.

I think there were moments in the ref affected spell where we might have gone away from Ange's forward instructions. But we recovered that late

He does not look very comfortable on the ball? Also does not seem as quick as I thought he might me. Tough to be thrown in at the deep end and he is still very young but must say my impression based on the first half is different to yours.

I thought the complete opposite. Twice he's been pressed by two players and calmly came away with the ball. And his recovery pace looks rapid to me. I'm impressed so far.

Agree but not than Lo Celso altho having gio and Maddison both on is obvs even more gung ho
Yeah, clearly Skipp is more defensively focused at the moment, but I still have hopes that Gio can be prodded into becoming some kind of complete No. 8, because he can really time a tackle when he wants to

Lucky to go into the break even if we're honest. Brentford have been better in every department.

But some promising patterns of play, a few decent performances by new faces. Fully expecting a better performance in second half.
not sure I agree.
We’ve had a lot more possession, more than double amount Of passes, a higher pass completion and more shots.
Our problem has been that we’ve not moved the ball quick enough in midfield. A couple of times madderson and son have made runs but we’ve slowed it down and Not taken the risk. I expect that’ll be the message at half time. What Brentford have done is been really disciplined.

The og was unfortunate but for someone so young and with limited training sessions with his new team, That was impressive from VDV.

The good thing is by playing this way you do give yourself more opportunities to just hit a decent strike from range like the one we saw from Emerson.

What needs to be sorted in this 90 mins is the "set piece defensive shape". For the freekick goal, and then that throw-in chance at the end, both times our midfield and attack were inexplicably in a different postcode to where the action was on the pitch. They were pushed up about 40 yards from our defence as Brentford pumped it forward, one they cut back and scored and the other we pinched but then they claimed the second ball in the vacant midfield and sustained the attack. Almost two goals conceded in that fashion, and needs tweaking immediately.
