Frustrating as shit for me watching that. Now I’ve calmed down a bit I think we just have to accept that until we have a full squad of 25 that are suited to the system and not just 12 or 13 then we‘re gonna have these types of games whilst we have players injured or suspended. Glad to see Veliz get his first goal - could be enough to convince Ange to trust him a bit more.

Just find it so frustrating that I'm not fully able to be enthusiastic and enjoying the games with all the players out. I appreciate how we play now but it's just hard to watch us defend with Emerson, Davies and Hojbjerg at the spine. I guess I just don't have the patience to wait for the squad to be built. That's more to do with the last few years to be fair. Now we're finally playing great football and we get hit with an injury crisis like never before. Tonight was shocking overall but we've still shown fight at the end. Its a bit like the Chelsea loss where at our worst we have still shown something positive. Just get to February still in the FA Cup and in reach of the top 4, then pray for less injuries to end the season. I can't wait to see our best 11 which we haven't seen yet under Ange.

Ange should have learned from this game is who he can consider good enough moving forward.

Early days, injuries aside we have had a good season so far, and one that will only improve once we have Romero, Micky, Madders, Solomon, Bissouma and Bentancur to choose from.

That alone is a bigger chunk of talent missing then any other PL side.

Next week it's going to be interesting to see how quickly Levy moves in the transfer market.

Call me old fashioned but if you have centre backs in the squad then why the fuck are you playing full backs in that position?!

I can just about get on board with Davies as he has played there before, albeit in a 3.

Playing Emerson makes no fucking sense as he literally has no attributes that make him suitable.

Hojbjerg is so passive and slow that he stunts any movement in the midfield. He just doesn't play quick or incisive enough.

He's fine as a sub late in games when you're looking for a bit of control and composure but if you're looking for zip then he's a passenger.

These defencies weren't helped much by the fact that the Forward line were incredibly poor putting added pressure on the midfield and defence.

I appreciate that until we get some injured /international players back that it is a patch up XI most weeks but we could make it easier by having players in the correct positions and/or suitable for the system.

We'll find out in approximately a week whether Scott Munn is a puppet for a dictatorship or not.

He’s on the bench because there’s nobody else. Whether he goes on loan or not, the real problem is that we went into the season with only two centre backs Ange was willing to play.
I agree with your second point but I see little point putting someone on the bench unless Ange genuinely believes he's ready to play.

If we ever get a chance to put out our best 11, I think opposition fans are going to be blown away by how good we are.

Exactly this. First XI kills most teams. But depth is the problem. So we just need to enjoy whatever happens this season

It's not the fault of Emerson, Davies or Dier they are options at CB, it's the club, it was fucking negligence in the summer, the past summer and its negligence now.
Vic is incredible.
We need a cultured player wide right, someone with quicker thought and better technical ability, 1v1 ability, someone who will push Johnson into improving.
We need another Bentancur type in midfield, again someone cultured, not Connor Gallagher.
We need a striker that can stay onside.

Overall I'm actually calm, we finished the game well.

Onwards.

"There are no grumbles from me with the penalties. They were clear and obvious. It's amazing that VAR picks up everything apart from a tackle that maybe puts out another of our players."

Presumably Ange is talking about Dunk. Was that even checked? I can't believe that wasn't a red when you see what players get sent off for nowadays.
Great he's finally calling this out. The lack of protection for our players from ref's since the Liverpool game has been disgraceful

Tonight wasn't on Gil mate
Don't think the poster was suggesting it was. As an eternal optimist and therefore Gil apologist, tonight was for me the Gil performance that finally made me realise he's never going to make it in the PL. Time to move on.

If, after four years and hundreds of millions of pounds spent, we were losing at home to West Ham with a full strength team I’d be more worried…..

In a weeks time we will start gettimg the party lines filtering through starting with Ally Gold.
The usual we are trying hard will suddenly turn to finding it hard then running out of time and so on.
Been here before.
