I think this could work but if they join the Premier League direct surely they would be at a huge disadvantage due to finances, would take them at least 3 years to catch up you would think.

As for Scottish Football both Glasgow clubs too big for that league and them leaving would actually make the Scottish League more competitive

Scotland who will likely be independent within the next decade but their football clubs join the PL?

I don't see it.

NO fucking way the SPL allows either club to leave, they would be hated by the nation outside of Glasgow.

If ANY club is entering any of the English FA's leagues, they should have to start at the bottom of the pyramid and work up. At very most they should be placed in the equivalent league to where AFC WImbledon started (8th tier?).

Particularly if they're Scottish.

This has to be a wind up. But I always felt that the Scottish and Welsh leagues should be merged in with the English leagues.

I actually like the idea of this Rangers and Celtic are too big for that league. It might take a few seasons for them to get up to speed but with their fan basses they would soon be up there. Unfortunately it would make things harder for us when they do come up to speed. I also like the idea of a British international team (absolutely love the British Lions in Rugby) competing for Euro/ world cups where you have the nations with players not selected for the British team competing against each other in the international breaks so you have a layer of players just below the national team getting better experience.

None of that will actually happen though. Too many people in Scotland's FA with cushy jobs that would do anything to hold on to those jobs. The Scottish teams had a big drop of revenue when Rangers were relegated so some may go yes have more chance of winning but don't want to lose out of that money and a diminished league. Oh and the majority of the virtuous 14 of 20 non super league clubs in the premiership would have to vote for more of them to be relegated and lose out on some premiership money despite it meaning a more competitive, better league and I am pretty sure they wouldn't do that.

One of the major problems I had with the ESL was clubs just got designated for the bigger money competition. They didn't have to achieve or perform to get into it.

If this idea had been proposed during 2012-16 Rangers wouldn't have even been in the top flight of the Scottish leagues. More self designating bullshit.

Super glued to the super league ideas, then?

They must be sniffing the glue as well.

Sl criterium was clear thou and undisputable , quite fair as well - Revenue

Rangers where relageted thou also for not sport or performance related reasons.

Personally I would love them to frag off from SPL ,if they could take federations with them it would be smashing. Whole Glasgow fragin off is a cherry on the top.

This is my problem with it in principle though.

If you went back 15 years Man City wouldn't have been involved in a super league. Go back a bit further and Chelsea wouldn't either. A little further and arguably we wouldn't either.

The state of the Scottish clubs is more consistent but it still doesn't sit right with me that they get into the BSL. Done in 10 years time for all we know another Scottish club could have got a wealthy owner and been in the 2.

I think you underestimate Celtic/Rangers reach.
But on main point; even you accept that to challenge status quo you need someone injecting cash into club. Thanks to ffp it’s easier to do with big clubs with big fan base already.
This season Inter challenge is financed by China money.
Thanks to gods Celtic is to blinded by their long term dominance and fat on stream of European cup money to notice that for example Newcastle take over would murder Scottish League in long term or they would be playing in Premier already. I think that Nordic league is probably the Future.

I haven't said anything about their reach so you can't judge that I have underestimated it.

Maybe I am just stuck in my ways. I believe they are Scottish clubs that should play in the Scottish leagues. I don't believe their status as the top clubs changes that.

Maybe we could have an EPL v SPL tournament every 2-4 years? Difficult to fit in but it could be good fun.

You need to play in CL to expend your fan base and get exposure. You need money to play in cl. There is a limit for how much you can sell product like scottish league to TV and ad agencies. It's a predatory market and big fishes are taking bigger and bigger part of pie. I think that sooner rather than later we will have unified regional leagues. Nordic league, Portugal and Spain, ce tral European etc. Only thing blocking it right now is uefa and fat cats of federation.
