No I also think Bent still has a future at the club. Especially if Berbatov as expected leaves us.

Firstly the starting forward partnership and to some extent there would be a Fresh start (assuming we brought in a high profile replacement) it would be on Keane and Bent to prove they are the best partner for the new striker.

I think Bent will/would be a much better player with an extended run in the team, if/when we have more creative midfild players to create chances for him more consistantly.

Hopefully there would be a cycle of positivity, he gets more service/chances he thus scores more goals, he becomes more confident he scores a higher percentage of these chances as a result.

He has shown glimps, and yes he has made mistakes, but is that because, as he has openly come out and said, I need to be playing consistently.

If I remember he was banging them in, in pre-season, and then just didn't get the chance.

Saying that Adel played a lot, and hasn't had that much of a look in either, but that is a different story.

i've said in other threads about this guy, that from what i've seen, he reminds very much of Batistuta, agile, quick, two good feet, and a battler.. for the 4mill quoted, give him a go, with Gus here it may help to bring him in.. Work permit may be aproblem tho.

Batigol was 6'1" and, though being skilfull, based his game on power and pace....this guy, at 5'9", is more a finess guy; and not very similar to Batistuta at all IMO.

The Berbatov money should be spent getting a leader in the middle of the pitch .

After that we can think of cover for Ledley and a new goalkeeper .

Sort those areas out and Bent , Keane plus a.n. other will be good enough for the time being .

Plus I think Bent will thrive with Modric in the side, if he starts regularly he'll have more killer balls to run on to and then he can do what he does best.

Agree with Striebs. My first choice would be Lucho Gonzalez, second Veloso/ Granero, would still like us to buy Arshavin who can play on the wing or behind the strikers also as a striker.With Modric we would have a m/f to match the top four

I've never actually seen him play but from the youtube videos (not the most accurate scouting source, granted) I just watched he looks pretty classy. :grin:
