This game is fiery. Glad that cock Huszti is off

Kudos to Santana btw, never seen a CB come on a change a game the way he has

Indeedy, could still win if they keep playing this well. 5 red cards in the Bundesliga today so far... and counting

Am I sensing a soft spot for the mighty Königsblauen?

Edit: Make that 6

Xhaka must have finally stepped up this year then. Gladbach don't look too bad when you put into perspective their opponents and the fact it's the first game of the season. Have them as favourites for 5th and I'm sticking with that.

Dortmund
Bayern
Schalke
Leverkusen
Gladbach
Stuttgart
Hamburg

Those are my CL and Europa league spot predictions

That's generaous towards Stuttgart... you must have factored in them ditching that buffoon of a coach early in the season and charging home after the break?

Whoops, i actually thought they might build on their form from the end of last year :p i'll do a proper prediction once the transfer windows shut. I actually think wolfsburg will finish 4th but i forgot to put them in my other prediction

I really like Höger, but also Neustädter. I know Höger's best position is in the midfield but I almost think we should put him at right back just to get everyone in. Although saying that I would like to see what Neustädter and Höger are like together. What we do need more than anything I think is a new keeper! My team choice would be:

New Keeper
Höwedes Santana Papadopoulos Kolasinac
Höger Neustädter
Farfan Draxler Stocker
Huntelaar
And then I'd rotate Fuchs and Kolasinac, Papa and Uchida (so Höwedes can come back into CB) and Goretzka for Höger when we want to be more attacking. Then Meyer for Stocker with Draxler going wide to get him some experience. Szlaia as an off the bench player and Pukki could be good as a wide forward I think off the bench too. I think it's a good squad we just need to get a bit of confidence

I'm moving this discussion here, Lufti :)

I think Höger is one of the most underrated players at Schalke. I really like him. He's one of those quietly brilliant players. But a new keeper is a must. Timo just doesn't cut it. But who to replace him with? I'd love to see Rene Adler or ter Stegen, but I unfortunately can't see it.

Schalke can field a good first XI and there is depth in midfield and the back four. I haven't seen enough of Szalai to really judge his merits, but I think he's done pretty well so far this season. Pukki I just love (probably because I'm ethnically finnish and got a soft spot for finnish players, when one actually makes it). Works his socks off, but he doesn't have enough goals in him, which probably will send him down the pecking order now when Stocker comes in for that wide forward/winger role and with Szalai looking like the better striker, so the forward situation is looking better and better.

Yeah I would like Adler, I think he's one of the best keepers in the world but what would HSV want for him? Probably a lot at a guess. Szalai I think is a great striker and he was brilliant for Mainz but he's under a lot of pressure trying to fill Hunter's shoes. As for Pukki, I love him, have him on one of my shirts and I hope he doesn't leave but I can't see him as a first team player, yet at least.

Farfan will get another one tonight. I just feel it! Good to play in front of empty stands when in Greece.

Hehe, the slated Jones puts a wonderful ball to Uchida there. Scrappy finish from Szalai but good enough for me!

Pep is ruining Bayern

Agreed. I'd just like to point out I called this before the start of the season :bookworm:

Sadly, I fear Chelsea might win on Friday purely because of the Mourinho factor.

Bayern play direct football, they attack in waves, one after the next, and then when they have have you at breaking point, they dangle you over the edge of the cliff, and then beat you some more. Not all this panzy Spanish 85% possession passing it between midfield nonsense. The 4-3-3 is pants and if he doesn't want to ruin what could be one of the greatest teams ever he'll admit he was wrong and change back to the 4-2-3-1.

The Bayern hierarchy must already be ruing deleting Heynckes' number from their phone

Clearly Bayern will get stuck between 2 styles of play at some point, and it won't be pretty, i loved the direct style they had last year and the group of players they have are made for it.. if Mr Muller ever gets bored of the tippy tappy shit then he knows where he would be welcome..

Luverly ball from Meyer to Draxler there! And great awareness from Szalai letting the ball go.

But 10 men for 23 more mins... ouff.
